Costco has an upgrade model of their Arcan aluminum floorjack. The most significant change is a upgraded rating from 2 tons to 3 tons. There's a bit more metal all around with a new cross brace piece on the lift arm. Can't tell if the hydraulics have been beefed up. Also the aluminum is now an anodized blue. I may have specs for both and I'll post 'em if I can find 'em. Pics to come. Price remains the same, $99.

I am very happy with this jack only complain is that the lift is slow, but it is quiet and steady.
The pad does not lift out easily, I have not investigated, it might be held on by some pin.
It's much better than the 1.5 - 2 ton aluminum jacks I have used. However price is $139 here in CA and if it is $99 in your local costco I would buy it without much remorse!

FWIW I have been using one of them to compliment my snapon floor jack. We haven't had any problems, and have been using it day in and day out for almost 6 months. It is so nice sliding a light little jack around, it is so easy to position. I would get another one in a heart beat.

I find that ours if very smooth in the down. The up is nice and fast untill a load is on it.

I have one of the older ones. It is a great jack. Just wish it had been Made in the USA. Oh, and it is not as light as I thought it would be!
For $99.00 I am sure it must be made in the USA of course!

Geez dude, lighten up! I assure you I was kidding. But really, when was the last time you saw a new USA made floor jack, let alone one for less than $100.00. I cannot even tell you who sells a hydraulic jack by any description, floor or otherwise made in USA anymore. Someone likely does make a jack in this country today but I doubt that most guys (myself included) would anti up the dough it would take to buy one. To honestly answer your question I bet there has not been a USA made floor jack that $100.00 would buy for most of thirty years or so! Anyway, I apologize cause I really meant no offense.

Hein Werner however they are owned by a Chinese company now but make their stuff here, which I find odd.
Prices are high for Milwaukee and U.S. Jack stuff, but they are the best. Wish I could afford a couple more

Other than reduced weight, is there some other advantage?
I was suprised how expensive these are elsewhere:

I ponied up the dough for an American jack but I was looking for something a little more mobile to carry in the Jeep. There are just certain countries that I will not buy products from, hence the question.

Yup, that is why I always preach rebuilding the old American iron. I have several old USA jacks and I had to rebuild every single one. If you sniff around long enough you can usually find an oldie for no more than say $20.00 which gives you enough room to spend another $50-$60 for a rebuild kit and still come out with a rebuilt old USA job for less than $100.00

I wonder on the US made jacks if all the parts are US made.
I've been thinking about getting one of the US made jacks from asedeals but I'm also tempted by the offerings from Denmark and Sweden as well. Expensive as hell, and it'd be for my personal use not shop use, so it would be hard to justify the cost. I like Uncle Buck's idea the best But haven't yet found that deal on craigslist.

I'm not sure whee I saw it but, I recently saw a polyurethane replacement pad for jacks.
Probably @ a suspension site. Maybe Energy suspension???

I bought this one at HF on sale. It works OK but under a real load like lifting the front of my F150 it takes some *** to get it to lift. No granted I'm sitting in a wheelchair but I still have great upper body strength and enough *** to keep me planted in it. I think I rather have it lift slower with less effort. But for what it cost it works well for most things.

Think you are right. A quick check of the Costco website does not list the 3-ton floor jack. Only a 1.5 ton aluminum floor jack is listed. But that is not conclusive... merchandise carried at Costco stores does vary by location.

Damn, at $99 I wouldn't mind trying it out. Aluminum is certainly easier to move around than the best of a Hein-Warner I've got.

I bought that jack a couple years ago. It works fine, if a bit slow. A couple nitpick points:
The minor hardware tends to loosen, especially the nuts for the swivel casters and the handle pivots. I removed all the screws/bolts and applied some blue Loctite.
The rubber pad gets crushed and pierced over time, making it larger than the recess in lifting saddle. It no longer sits under the retaining lips on the saddle and falls out when picking up the jack or bumping it on under-car low parts when rolling the jack in or out.
The u-joint looks weak, typical of so many similar jacks. Don't muscle the hell out of the lowering valve to open or close it, and don't twist the handle while pumping in order to get the most life out of it.

i had the original 2ton version, and that started leaking after a year or so. but costco gave me a full refund and i used that to buy this 3 ton version. the 3 ton has been holding up for a few years now. other than the one that started to leak, i like the floor jacks Costco sells... the release is very smooth on the way down and I can control it easily with a single hand twist.
they now have a 3.5ton low-profile deep-neck floor jack that looks like all steel. i'm sure it is heavier, but as long as it is easy enough to roll around on the casters, i prefer a stronger jack over a lighter one (I don't need to haul it around or to the track). it looked pretty decent and I would probably go for it if I needed another one.
