Snap-On Wrenchs used for??

I have both a SAE & Metric set of these wrenches, and I have never used them. What is the "weird" end used for ????? Are these still a item in production, or was it one of those things that someone came up with that didn't go over very well?

They are quick wrenches, They "ratchet". Can be helpful for some applications.

Those are wierd sets with two open ends. Usually, I've seen the ratcheting open end combined with a flare end. That way you could break the fitting loose with the flare end and speed it off with the ratcheting open end. I fail to see the benefit of a an open end joined with a ratcheting end. Maybe the engineers had an off day.

Ever try to undo a fitting (after it's loosened) with an open end wrench? Takes a while. The funky end speeds up removing the fitting.

I would not use that end to break loose a fitting.

I can't see in the photo if the regular open end is a flank drive plus that has teeth but, I still wouldn't want to break a fastener loose with an open end. I know sometimes you have to.

I have a couple of those, the open end on mine are flank drive. Can't say I've ever used them as 'ratcheting' wrenches. Have used them as open end a few times.

Those are the type my mechanic uses to take off fuel lines, but I don't recall what he used to break it loose. I doubt its worth it for a DIYer, but in a shop tis time and money.

i had snap on 13mm open end ratcheting (combo with box end). it is handy for tight area where i cant do with box end ratcheting... i would like buy 15mm ratcheting open end or set if there is sale....
