The new digs - coming soon

We just put a deposit down on a new property and its going to be one heck of an upgrade for me garage wise.
I'm going from a 26 x 30 to a detached 30 x 40 with 14ft ceilings and a pit and an attached 14 x 22 garage as well along with plenty of room to roam on 2.2 acres. We close on it in 3 months.

The new shop it wired and insulated however there's no heat in it, i plan on a mini split heat pump along with a major lighting upgrade, 4 lamp T5HO lowbays with wide distribution. LED wallpacks outside - should be a nice setup when it's done. As well, this should make for a much nicer home for my daughters and wife.

well, i took possesion of the property last night, here are some preliminary pics of the inside of the garage.

This weekend i'm wiring up new light fixtures, a garage door opener, some 240v plugs and a Mini Split heat pump.

Next weekend i'm installing drywall then the week after i'm moving the 3 cars, tractor, toolboxes and equipment into their new home.

For reference, my father is 6' and that's a 12ft door.

Wow that is what I call an upgrade. Every garage loving man or woman should have a place like that. It is pretty much a blank canvas now. You my man are all set up. Very nice, in fact I think you deserve a GJ "You ****" award for this one. Keep the pics coming. I think we would like to see the camaro, plymouth, VW and tractor as well.

Just checked your posts. Wow those toys will look great in there. What color theme are you going to use, the Plymouth, the Camaro or JD Green?

the drain goes out to a low point in the yard, probably 10 ft lower in grade, no standing water in it.
No lift for now, i'm going to bring power and a psare circuit to where the lift will go though. The pit will have to do, its 4ft deep and has built in stairs.

no idea on color, i'll figure something out this summer, right now i have a limited amount of time to wired it up, drywall it and put some heat in before the toys have to move in. Function over form for now.

well, i finished all the wiring this weekend (11 new lights indoors, 1 outdoor, 3 240v outlets on their own circuits, garage door opener) and started on the drywall - what a paint in the a$$ that is.

FWIW, I would frame in a 24"x24" or 16x16" box (near ceiling level or on roof opposite of make up air location) and pull a wire for some type of whole "place" ventalator. Even if you don't install it now you may have a need for added air movement through the place at some point.

i do have 2 big 60" ceiling fans that's i'm installing, that should help with airflow.

Rocco, not to sound critical, and it's too late for what you have done, but drywall seams are supposed t be staggered. For instance....if you start out with a full sheet, the sheet next to it will be a half sheet, then a full sheet, then a half sheet, and so on. You will have a straight seam front to back but side to side they will be staggered every 4'. This just makes things a little more rigid and less chance of cracks forming.

probably would of been good to know that before i started. Makes very little difference anyways, i'm not crack filling or painting it.
It's a working garage, not a showroom.
