Bosch 18V Drill/Impact Deal Details (via TG)

I couldn't believe my eyes! $111 minus the current $20 off $100+ promo, -> $91 at checkout!

I couldn't resist and ordered a set for personal use. Or maybe to give as a gift, not sure. I just couldn't let the deal go w/o buying one. (My name is Stuey & I'm a toolaholic.)

Hmmm takes sometime to deliver ... but at that price I'm in for one set.

Thanks Stuey ... I just purchased a Metabo 18V Hammer Drill but how could I pass this kind of deal. LOL

I have more drill/drivers than I know what to do with on the review shelf, and STILL bought one.

Update: deal appears to be dead.

It might be worth checking again later. In the past deals like this have popped back after a short oversell panic.

You're right ... I think mine got through. I just don't know if Amazon will cancel or deliver.

Pull the trigger and ask questions later .... lightning deals. LOL

Back with the Nicholson file deals, they couldn't order any more and cancelled orders. This is a brand new kit, so unless this was a massive price mistake, there's a good chance they'll ship, even those that are delayed 3-6 weeks.

Second guessed my need for another drill and impact driver, then saw the bosch impact wrench and thought it would be a good line to buy into and MISSED it. Jay is right buy first questions later.

Stuey what do you think odds of this coming back are?

Yes Amazon is different. If it was an Amazon vendor I won't even be holding my breath even for a fraction of a sec ....

Honestly? Maybe 1 in 10, probably less. Too many variables.

The fact that they sold out current inventory and probably the next shipment or two is not too hopeful. Especially since we don't know if this was a promo, pre-BF sales event, or pricing error.

Just keep a close eye on Amazon for the next 24 hours or so. It's common for these killer deals to return briefly due to cancellations, credit card issues, etc.

Odds are low but we're still in the window of time where a few could pop back up.

Check4change can help.

How long had this deal been up before Stuart found it, I wonder? I got my order in maybe 10 minutes after he posted it in the hot deals thread. About 10 minutes after that it was gone. (The toolguyd blog effect in action!)

He found it on SlickDeals, SD can drive a LOT of traffic in a short period of time... that's probably the more likely source of the sellout :)

Ah, ok. Thanks. I wonder how many were sold before Amazon started marking it as a backorder, then finally pulled it? Do we have a rough idea how many items they keep in stock at a time when it comes to tools? Just curious...was it 100 sold before switching to backorder, or 10,000?

Not sure. Late last night it was >$200.

Nope, I found it independently, but after it was posted on SD. After I posted about it on TG and references it here, the SD effect went into play as the deal went Front Page.

The SD effect can cripple smaller online shops. When a sale goes front page on Slickdeals, other deal sites copy-paste, with items flying off digital shelves.

They sold up to the amount they had on shelves before it became backordered but still sellable.

I don't think they sold 10K, but definitely a couple of a hundred if not more. There are usually limits in place to make sure that they can fulfill an order.

But for a product like this, and timing like now, I bet a lot of people ordered multiples for gifts or to resell.

It hit SD at 7:03 and was OOS by 8:12.

Once it was sold out there were about 5000 total views on SD.

Draw your own conclusions as to how many viewers became buyers. If 50% then 2500 were sold.

Add to that the other deal sites but SD drives the volume.

i'm hoping to see some black friday deals on impacts and portable band saws..
Unlikely. Impacts, maybe. But band saws? Amazon is offering $20 off $100+ Bosch orders, and I think that might be the best to hope for. Maybe a 10%-off somewhere, but I haven't heard any buzz yet.

Hell, even though I just got a new 26618 impactor kit last week, had this deal been valid I would have gotten it for the road. Just one fatpack battery costs $90 (I bought an extra last week as well). The last thing I need is more drills and impactors though.:shocking:
