Pretty much decided on Montezuma 56 inch combo. Comes in two styles or drawer counts of 18 and 21 drawers. The difference is in the top box drawer layout.

I am not a professional wrench turner. Just a wanna-be shade tree mechanic needing a good storage solution. For home storage use which would be more useful in your estimation.

Here is the 18 drawer

I'd go with the 21-drawer blue beast as I don't see the need for that big bulk-storage drawer on the right, and the short double-height drawer on the left doesn't do much for me.

Its a tough call. I bought the 21 myself.......sometimes i wish i did the 18. My guess is you wont be happy no matter what. Thats just how it goes with tools, with toolboxes its never big enough, you will always outgrow it!

tbobbo, you didn't help my analysis paralysis at all... lol

Probably go with 21 since that's the consensus so far and that's what's in stock at strictlytoolboxes dot com. The 18 drawer is backordered at the moment.

It's a lot of money for me and trying to make sure I get best combo of usefulness, quality and efficiency for the buck..

I vote 21 as well. The only thing I use my bulk drawers like that are air tools/packaging boxes for resale/misc junk.

Plus the 21 drawer just looks so much cleaner

I personally would go for the 21 drawer. I hate those bulk drawers as all they wind up being for me is a junk drawer. At work I have a Craftsman 41" that has 2 bulk drawers, one I can keep quasi organized and the other I don't even try anymore!!

I know I have a few that won't fit in either. I looked at the international which has a 12 inch high drawer but that chest was too deep. I don't have enough room for a 24 inch deep cabinet with 22 inch drawer extension.

So, I will have a storage cabinet for the larger tools.

Thanks for you input and that was my main reason for considering the 18 drawer unit.

18 drawer. You have more large/odd sized tools than you think.

21 drawer. I bought my Gray Tools Pro Series roller cabinet/top chest/side locker mainly because it had many smaller drawers. I find organizing my tools much easier when I can dedicate a drawer to a specific type of tool. I have only 2 deep drawers, one of which is for air tools, the other for paper towels, hearing protectors, hand cleaner, that type of thing.

21 drawer. I only have 2 bulk drawers in the bottom of mine and I find that's too many. That being said, if you have a lot of bigger items or items in cases you need to store, then the one with fewer drawers may be better for you.

I would go with the 18 drawer as well. In the 21 drawer box, what are you going to do with those ten 2" height drawers on that top box? Unless you got a chit load of screwdrivers and pliers :D

I've got an International like you described. That bulk drawer is big enough my 5yo daughter can fit inside it!
I wish I had a camera handy, it would've made a great picture.

21 drawer for sure. Find someplace else for a few of the large things.

21 drawer salute.

If you have large tools that won't fit in the bottom large drawers, your better off with a separate large cabinet with shelves for the large tools in their own boxes.
