So, I have been lurking for about a month now and I am extremely green with envy. A little about me, I am a 91E allied trades specialist in the US Army. I have been in since 2006 and I love getting up everyday to go to work but enough about me, lets get to the garage. I cant really do alot in the garage since I live in on post housing and everything I do I have to be able to take with me. This winter after I finish my wifes christmas present i am going to clean and organize the garage so i can start making extra money workin on cars.
Here is the view from the outside looking in.

These next two are of the tool box that I have. If you notice the logo next to the craftsman logo is a trailer special logo, the story behind that emblem is after my Great Grandma past away, we were cleaning out the garage and I found it in a box I asked what kindof car it was fromand my dad said it was from a Ford ltd that my great grandpa covnverted to a maxi taxi, so after some arguing about who should get it between my dad, my uncle and I, my Grandma steped in yelled at my dad and uncle and told them since I found it I get to keep it plus I am her favorite:thumbup:

Welcome to The Garage journal and Dang base housing has changed since I was in thats a nice garage . The last base housing I lived in my shop was the covered and semi enclosed lanai on the front of the house . Nedless to say I spent alot of time at the base hobby shop painting other guys cars and rebuilding the ones
I could pick up cheap and turn a profit on with a little work :D.

Friend of mine had a workbench that was essentially a very strong shipping crate. The front came off and exposed the interior which had shelves for tool storage. The crate set on fork lift risers. When it was time to PCS he pack the tools in tight and screwed the front on. It went all over with him and he never had any issues with the TMO.

Will they let you paint the fire wall and the OSB sheathing? Way back when (I was on active duty) you could get paint from Housing Maintenance for self help projects.

now that base housing is privatized they will not let you paint it unless you buy the paint then when you leave you have to primer the wall so basically a waste of time

Excuse the OT and forgive my ignorance (I busted my commissioning physical; that was as close as I got to the military), but base housing is privatised? Since when? :wtf:
I cannot lie to all I know is when I came back from Germany and we got to Fort Belvoir they were privatized and that was feb 08

Yes, I am making the desk myself and I must say I am by no means a woodworker I do this to pass the time on what little time I have off and it brings back memories of making stuff with my grandfather. I will take pics today

Base housing was always tough to work on cars in. Best house I ever had on base, the garage was detached and almost double car size, but only a single wide door. It had a full width shelf across the front of the garage, but high enough to park a truck under.
