Sears Tool Purchases

Earlier today I posted a piece about Sears tool dept. over at TG. I then decided it would be a great idea to whip out all the tools I purchased from Sears over the past few years.

Big mistake. I pulled out many of them, but then ran out of room on the table. Most of these tools were purchased on sale over the years, some were full-price. I didn't realize how many tools there actually were until they were on the table. And floor. And chair. Sockets and wrench sets not included.

Maybe when I prep to move in a few months I'll sort through all my tools for a group photo.

The grouping on the table seemed like a lot and then they didn't... until I went to put them away!

It was over a span of maybe 4-5 years? I haven't run out of things to buy there, though. Can't say the same for big-box home improvement stores. Had $60 in credit at Lowe's and couldn't figure out what to buy. After an hour I left with random consumables and doodads.

That's usually what I wind up doing with giftcards to Lowes/Home Depot...consumables and/or materials for projects.

That reminds me! Before Citi's Thank You reward points network offered Amazon gift cards (now by request and extra points )= I redeemed all my points for Sears gift cards. Sometimes they had promos, so I redeemed points for Lands' End gift cards.

I've used it a good couple of times. I don't frame often. Most of my manual nailing is done with a 16 oz smooth-faced Estwing.

Most of them are put to work often. I don't do a lot of dirty work, though. And when I do, I clean everything up before putting them away. I'm not a polisher, though.

Do you seriously like the way Sears keeps moving stuff around in the catalog ? They're almost gimmicky to me.

The newer catalogs do sell things a bit harder than the catalogs from a few years ago. But I haven't really noticed things moving around.

Grab the last three catalogs, if you have them and copare what they look like, including their Christmas edition. I know one of them had IIRC 1 page of welders.
