Fairly new to GJ. I have enjoyed the forums looking at how you guys set up your shops. 36x60 and I need 3 overhead doors. 6 weeks ago I ordered 3 doors from the local Overhead Garage Door Company, Yankton SD. Thermacores, total with openers installed is or was should I say $8000. I was told by the local rep in Yankton that the doors would arrive week 3 and be installed week 4. Over the course of the 6 weeks, I made several calls to understand electrical requirements, as well as the needed framing to accept the door. Would not return my calls, emails etc. All in all, I had 6-8 email and voice mails requesting feedback accordingly. Today he finally returns my call to advise me he not only forgot to order the doors, but didnt have my information on sizes. (which he came out and measured himself).

Im frustrated! I asked him if this is an example of the service before the doors are even in, what would it be like after the doors are installed? He responded "hey, I told you Im sorry" thus not answering my question.

I have always heard and believed OHD were the best, and I wanted the best! Im sure many of you have had great performance from OHD. I just cant bring myself to spend $8K with a clown like this. So, long story short, who next in line to OHD company? Curious on your inputs.... Thanks!

The building I work at was built 8 years ago using OHD they have been nothing but perfect over the 8 years of use. Used 2-3 times a day 6 days a week. I would suggest finding another resource for OHD company IMHO. I know very little on the function of OHD and how they operate as a franchise/company. A call to corporate might fix the problem and maybe get you in touch with another sales rep. I've seen other shops use other brands and they haven't stood the test of time. I hope this helps.

I've been very happy with my Raynor's, but be aware like the Overhead guys, it's a franchise deal - a lot will depend on the store owner. Mine were considerably less expensive than what OHD quoted me, including lifts.

Thanks guys for the ideas. NastyNate, Im with ya and have began dialog with another OHD out of Sfalls SD. However, Im gonna take a look at the others suggested. I want doors that operate trouble free. Ive been working towards this shop for years. Get this, even my wife says to get the good doors. Isnt that like a green light?? Thanks for the feedback. I was a bit worried as no one replied at least right away. Also a bit emotional when I go back and read my post.

The gentleman is obviously too busy to provide the customer service you should expect. Run ... don't walk ... to another dealer / installer.

Get this, I end up with another OHD source who upgrades me to commercial series doors and openers for 1100 dollars less! Will post pics soon when I find where on GJ
