Were you talking about the mini pliers? Other than those, I do not know of any Craftsman pliers taht are made in China.

For the record, I would buy Channellock pliers over any Craftsman pliers.

I think he is talking about the mini craftsman pro with the brown handles..

The red handle 7" craftsman pro should be made in USA.. I am curious to the quality of those.

I have some of the Craftsman mini pliers that are made in USA, and some that are made in France. Ever since they started making them in China, I was glad that I already had what I needed.

i have a few sets of Knipex pliers, 6 pairs of Circlip pliers and one pair of "grabber" pliers.

grabbers - http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/core/media/media.nl?id=10793&c=317638&h=9d3974e1b2905e813cfe

i have to say, the quality of the Circlip pliers is outstanding. the casting is very nice, and no flash or anything, the grips are very good and overall i just think they're very good for the money. not the cheapest, but by no means the most expensive.

the grabbers, on the other hand, i was very disappointed with. the finish isn't that good. it looks like they've been cast and then ground down by hand. it doesn't affect the performance of the tool, but for a supposedly top-end German tool i thought the finishing was a little off. shame really.

Now see, those grabbers are what I call a marginal or luxury type tool that I have done fine without for thirty years so when I bought the 3 pc HF set for a few beans and have used them a few times I think they are great, besides I do not make a living with them and they do everything I ask for such a small cost!

they're by no means essential, but for things like spark plug boots and such that can be a life saver, so you don't go pulling the lead and boot apart. i was just disappointed in the quality since i paid for a quality tool.

If it's a plier, and knipex makes it, I'm buying it from them, period. I love their tools. I have Craftsman pro, Snap-On, Mac, SK, etc., and IMHO, none of them compare to the knipex.

My sentiments exactly.

The regular sized CmanPro red/black handle pliers are of good quality. Definitely a step up over the regular Craftsman plier line. I have a mixture of CmanPro pliers and Channellocks, and I have no regrets. :)

Hi Moose,

Any update on the Knipex Grabber. We need one of this and just want to know if the tool held off well. I think we can live with the finishing issue but what you say is true. For a top quality German tool it's a disappointment. I hope they made it better for this one since your post was nearly 3 years ago.

Thanks a lot.

I have the grabber. I got it for wires, not hoses, though. It grabs plug wires and pulls them off. It is finished beautifully.

Which one did you get? The Dip of the Comfort Grip?

Do you mind telling me what's the maximum diameter it can grip.

tks

The dipped one. I have a mix of the ergo and comfort grip and I'm not sure which I like better. You want max grip capacity completely closed?

Yes please max grip with ends closed. I'm leaning towards the Comfort Grip.

Will be using for car engine hoses and what not.

tks

I prefer the comfort grip (you can definitely squeeze them harder), but they cost a bit more and have a bit more limited selection.

OK, I measured it for you. When closed the circular opening is 12mm. Now, remember that this is the MIN size hose, not the MAX. Anything smaller than 12mm will not be grabbed. Over 12mm within reason it can grab.
