Has anyone used these products before? Can you tell me the pros & cons of the product you used.Value, ease of use, help line, product longevity...

Just had a pole barn garage installed 24x30 , looking to epoxy floor. never done anything like this before, want to cover floor before getting all stained up.

If you have experience with another brand i would like info on that product.

I chose these two brands to compare because on this forum i have seen these two brands mentioned the most.

thanks,
this is a great board

I put down Rustoleum epoxy gray on my new concrete. I used all the color chips that came with it. On top of that, I put down a clear coat epoxy made by a local paint company-to protect the gray.

So far it has worked great. The clear does scratch, but it seems to scuff away just from walking on it. If I had to do it over again, I may look at the custom colors the local paint company said they could do, along with custom chip colors to sprinkle on top. When I do the wife's garage, that is probably what I will do. I will probably put a clear coat on top again. It looks great.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure you're going to get a "head to head" response from somebody that has used both, but it seems pretty clear that they are both high quality 100% solids products and are roughly comparable.

My opinion is that your results are going to depend more on your application skills, precision with regard to following the instructions, and quality of prep than on the minor differences between high end products like these. Availability of the exact product you want (color, quantity, etc.) and price are likely to be more important factors than any differences in their specific formulations.

thanks munkey, well this is my first attempt at this, so i guess if both products are equal then i will have to compare price and ease of use, best explained instructions is key.

so has anyone used these products and can tell me if the instructions are clear and ease of use
thanks again

You should also consider Rocksolid floors. I have it and love it so far. Seems VERY durable and looks great. Much easier to apply than epoxy too.

i checked your pics, look great! plus it was free, thats a great combo.
did the kit come with a anti slip material? smooth floors are very slippery when wet!
what extra tools or materials did you have to get or use?

With the flakes it isn't slippery at all. As far as tools go, I had to purchase a couple of paint brushes, masking tape, and a paint roller with extension handle. It comes in bags and is very simple to use. Just open the bag, pour in the tint, and shake for 60 seconds. Pour it out on the floor and start rolling. It dries very fast and you can walk on it in just a few hours.

Seems that you have asked a question that everybody on here wants an answer for. You could have just asked, "what is better, Ford or Chevy"? I have been reading these boards for a long time. Both of the products are great and both have a great customer support. I am looking for the same answer. Im kinda hoping one of them decides to use my garage as a showcase! just remember that prep is the key, prep is the key and that prep is the key to any one of these products performing to your standards and expectations. you can slop the best product on a poorly prepared floor and it will look like %$&. OR you can prepare a floor the way it should and make Rustoleum product look like a showroom floor! There are no miracle products out there. If I were you, I would pick one of these two brands and do as much research you can into what others have done for preparation and proper application. Those are the people that will be the happiest with whatever product they have chosen.

No clear, doesn't really need it to be shiny. It shines plenty without it. You could always add the silica sand (or is it aluminum oxide?) if you're worried about it being slick.

I did look at it and wont go into it much further as to not confuse the OP but I will most likely NOT be going with the rocksolid product.

It's not just about the shine -- the clear helps prevent the flakes from becoming dirty and also prevents dirt from being trapped under the ones that aren't perfectly flat (and there always are some.)

I guess you're right, never thought about that. I never claimed to be a floor expert. Just a happy Rocksolid customer. I'll be doing my other garage soon and will apply the lessons I learned from doing this one. I can't wait.
