I don't know how many of you ordered the $16 SK ratchets last month from Grainger, only to see them cancelled. A number of us received them when all was said and done, a month later.

If you still don't have them, and got a phone call from Grainger stating the items were on backorder or no longer in stock, and therefore your order was cancelled, all is not lost. You can uncancel the order, at the original price.

If you login to the Grainger website with your username and password you'll see an Orders section near the top.

Select the 'History' link and look on the right for the 'download detailed order history' link. It's easy to miss.

Select a timeframe that's prior to your order (3 months will do) and download the history in txt format. Then, open it using Word or Notepad++ (freeware editor) and look for the order number column. Call Grainger's 800 number and ask if they can uncancel that order for you, and give them the order number.

They will do it, and at the price you originally ordered at. In a few days you'll either get a delivery or a message from will-call, whichever method you originally requested.

I mentioned using Word or Notepad++ to open the order history text file. That's because the default editors in Windows --Notepad and Wordpad-- will format the file improperly and it'll be hard to find that order number.

Thanks, Larry, you are the man!

I did exactly as you said. They are shipping the ratchets for will call at my local branch, out of Chicago. I think it's going to happen, I'd given up hope of getting in on this great deal on that famous SK chrome.

Hopefully I'll get some of those new Ideal production ratchets, 2 flex and 1 standard.

I didn't get to give the extra one for a gift for christmas like I'd hoped, but there's always next year... :)

What was the part # of the flex model. Went to order mine at $16 but before I confirmed it at the final step of the order process the price jumped to over $80. Cancelled the order but my card was still charged. Became a huge mess for me but am willing to try again.

i believe it had to be ordered at the original price of 16.69 IIRC in order to get the price if you "uncancel" the order.... its just so happens i ordered 2 flex and 2 standard.... i only 'need' one of each... so if you dont have anyluch 'uncanceling' your order for the blowout price and your interested in purchasing the 'extra' ones i have at a small markup (looking to help pay for the ones im keeping only) plus shipping to you i can accomidate you. i should have them on thrusday of this week. PM me for further details...

powertrip and JoeR:

Yes, I should have stated it more clearly-- in order for the ratchets to come in at $16 ea, you had to have made the order before the price increase bit. Sorry for the disappointment if you thought otherwise or if I gave a different impression.

I had made an order that was cancelled before so I should be getting it for the $16 price, i just checked my bank account and they have already charged me this time

+1 I just called in on a canceled order for a flex head. It's getting shipped to me in WI from NJ not Chicago. It sounds like they're almost out of them again!

It's cash will call, so I'm hoping nothing gets messed up and I get the $17 price.

If anyone ordered one Will Call, check the inventory of your local store. For some reason my individual order never updated (I was afraid that mine had been cancelled) but the store inventory showed one on hand. Sure enough, I called them up and they said that mine (flex head) had been waiting to be picked up for a few days.

No screamin Sh!t! Worked for me too. Nicest dang lady I've talked to in a while (don't tell my wife).

Got my order uncancelled, verified price, etc.

Thank you, Thank you, Larry Q.

an SK 1/2 flex head for 15 buck is SO-SO? I think you are smoking crack.

It's okay I find them all over used for less than $10. I have several SK rats I got from Estate sales that are like new, usually in the $5 tool box fill up deals the lady gives me. I should ferret them all out and sell them to you guys. They are probably better than the new stuff in quality.

Got a call today that they were in, went down and picked them up.

Looks like all new SK production, the flex have the torx screw pivot. I like the new knurling, not as sharp as the old stuff. I think the new SK has a good thing going if these ratchets are any indication. Time will tell, but I don't see any reason at all to suppose the old ones were better, in fact I'd say Ideal improved the design with the screw flex joint pivot.

$15 for a well-made chrome long 1/2 flex ratchet that is Made in USA ratchet is a steal, and the hassle was an extra minute of computer work and 2 minutes on the phone.

No doubt you're frustrated at missing the opportunity to add to your Toolhord, so send me a PM and I'll make you a great deal at 30% off Grainger's current price.

I got mine yesterday. I agree, new manufacture. As noted the knurling is different, torx pivot screw. Really nice chrome. Was almost dry, maybe a hint of some grease, definitely no oil.

re: the Knurling, I think it is a bit more toothy or gritty than my other SK 1/2" stuff(bought new about 20 years ago). The knurling is larger, or more feed speed on the lathe than the old stuff, but seems about the same depth. I like the old stuff better, but maybe after 20 years of use, I"ll like it just the same ;-)

A few dollups of permatex ultra caliper lube (the green stuff), and this is one seriously fine ratchet for $17+shipping. It's be hard to be an objective hater of this at the price.
