A good friend is giving me his complete original older Matco Tool Box

I will be picking it up in a few weeks. The top and bottom are an original set, the middle was added sometime later. I`m thinking she`ll clean up just fine. An ideas on what are the best products to bring her back to life? All the original keys come with, she locks just fine

You're getting that for free? My goodness.

I would clean it with soap and water, then go over every square inch with a clay detailing bar. Remove the pulls and badges so you don't have to work around them. After that, I'd apply a coat of polish and a coat of wax. Finally, I would fill it with tools, set up a chair in front of it, and drink a few beers while staring at it.

Cool box. Mac tools labels and matco on the drawer pulls?:headscrat

They were a combined company, a long time ago, with Mac making the tools and Matco making the boxes. Than split and became two competing truck brands.

Good score. I have the bottom box and been looking years for a matching top box. It is a weird 33" length.

I remember the first Matco boxes. They were a weird pale red. That one looks darker? Sure its Matco?

The iphone flash tends to wash out the colors. I assure you this is a Matco Box. I will post pics of the manufacture label once I get the box home.

Mac and Matco split in 1979.Mac was split in two,Mac Allied Tools Corperation and Mac Tools,Inc.The 1950s and 1960s Mac tool catalogs were split this way into divided product sections. This was before the split in 1979.

guys I have this exact box. My husband recently passed away and am looking to get some idea of a fair price. Know I have the keys somewhere. He was a mechanic for many years. Can anyone give me an idea of what to ask or somewhere to go looking. Have found this site several times while attempting to research some of the tools that he had in that box. Stuff that even his old friend can say...."Have no clue what that one is for" Any help would be appreciated.

My condolences to you rainforest... The prices on THE SAME EXACT toolboxes vary by geographic location in my opinion. Best bet is to go on Facebook Marketplace and/or Craigslist and see what other people are asking for their toolboxes AND see how long the ad stays up. If a person is asking "X" for a toolbox and it gets reposted month in month out..... kinda means he's asking too much for it. Just my .02.

When you say "this exact box" do you mean all three boxes in post one? just the roller? just the top?

Condition also matters. as well as location, (some areas tend to have higher prices) nearer to big cities (more people) helps (a box in a small town in the middle of nowhere takes travel to go get...)

Can you post a pic of the box?

As Outlaw said, good, clear pictures will help us answer your questions better than anything.
