Snap-On F830???

I won the F830 on ebay and the seller claimed dual 80 technology. The F80 comes up on Snappy's site when I search for F830, but seems like that is erroneous. What is the deal with this model? 36 or 80 gear teeth? Is it like the F936? Was I deceived?

Yes, we know all about this case Mike.

The F830 has 30 teeth; hence the part number.

It's still a very nice ratchet. I'd advise you in the future to pay close attention the seller's item photo; not their description.

I can't tell from the photo what ratchet it is. The pic is bad to begin with. Why would that ******* seller write about dual 80 technology in the description?

Oh well, can never have too many ratchets. In any case, what I really want is a nice shiny brand new F80 The F830 can be my backup. Then the Craftsman Pro after that.

All the seller did is probably go to SO's site and pick the highlights from the description, different part number be damned.

I thought we beat this topic to death for the last two days. You did very well for $38. The seller just looked on the website and pulled the information. He probably did not notice the different model numbers, just like I didn't when I looked (last thread) and eschoendorff had to point it out to me.

If you are not satisfied, why not email the seller and express your concerns. He may be understanding (or not).

Well, if you go to snap on's website, and search F830, since that model isn't offered anymore, it takes you to the current equivalent, F80, and that's where the error comes in, me thinks.

well i just won a ratchet thats the same deal.. it's an F830.. advertised as a dual80. i know this is an old thread but it came up in a google search when i searched how many teeth does a F830 have. i had a really good suspiscion it was 30.. still much better than craftsman garbage

Here are some pics of my F830. I believe it is one of the first sealed headed ratchets Snap On made. 1990 date code. Ratchet never used.

It also gets confusing for people selling stuff who don't know exactly what they have, because the of the SO website. If you type "F830" in to the search, it takes you to the current production model which is dual 80.

I am sorry for warming up the old Thread but i have a question:

Can you or can you not replace the gears in the F830 with Dual80 gears?

I am in Germany here and the local Snap On dealer (yes, they drive their trucks here in ol' europe too) says it isnt possible.
But considering hes a kraut, i trust your words more than his. We only know about Hazet, Gedore and Stahlwille.

So if its possible, which number do i need to ask him for?

You can NOT replace the gears in the F830 with Dual 80 gears.

You know that would be WAY TOO easy and cost effective for snap on to be doing. The body of the dual 80 ratchet is bigger inside to accomodate the dual pawls. Thus the name dual 80

I have just replaced my Stahlwille 3/8 ratchet, which i unfortunately mistreated, with a F830. I was hoping to upgrade the 72 teeth of the SW to the 80s of the Snap on. But what do you wanna do?
