Torque wrench storage

No, this isn't another thread about what lb/ft setting you should store your wrenches, thankfully.

Like usual I'm running out of room in my tool chest and getting rid of the plastic blow molded cases that my three clicker wrenches are in would free up a lot of space. They're not anything special, just Harbor Freight wrenches. I do have drawer liners in all the drawers so they wouldn't be knocking around. If I do get rid of the blow molded cases I'd be able to split things up and have one entire drawer for sockets/extensions/bolt outs and one drawer for ratchets/torque wrenches/breaker bars. Good idea to get rid of them, or should I keep them in their cases?

I have my top drawer of my 56" HF box dedicated to all things sockets and the tools necessary to use them. I say show them off!

I ditched the cases on mine long ago. They're in a drawer dedicated to ratchets, extensions, breakers, universals and adapters. I don't throw or drop things in my tool box so I'm not worried about them getting messed up.

+1 for ditching case. My 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4 clickers sit in the same drawer as my ratchets. They don't move unless i slam the drawer shut, which i dont do anyways.

if you pitch the cases, what happens when you get a bigger box, and have room for the cases?

Cases take up a huge amount of space, especially when they use the one size fits all cases that torque wrench makers are prone to using now. Most of mine were bought used and do not have cases. I have three that are in cases and they sit on a workbench. A Norbar 3/4 drive that is about 5 ft long in a metal case, and the PI split beams, which I use the most anyhow.

I keep mine in their cases, except my snappy 1/4" dial as I don't have a case and wish I did. hint hint

Well, I ditched the cases and rearranged the two drawers. Everything fits perfectly with plenty of room to spare now. I just need to get some socket rails for my 1/2" drive stuff and I'll be set.

I love it when I see "and i'll be set" on this board! You will never be set! You will run out of room again! It's an addiction! LOL

Since I don't use it everyday, I keep them in the bottom drawer inside case.

Well, no one can ever be set overall. Too many toys out there.

I leave mine in the case in the full width drawer that houses the air tools.
