I picked this up the other day and was wanting some info on it. Says made in Sheffield England but looks a lot like the ones made by Irwin? Jaws are 4" wide and it is about 11" long with jaw closed. Thanks in advance!

Record>Irwin>Stanley>China?

Is this correct? So does Stanley's net profit go to China or is Stanley just buying the USA made products mfg and then for more profit having the items made in China?

Stanley isn't involved in this fiasco; this is all Irwin's doing.

I have seen only pictures of older Records and they look pretty beefy. This looks like a lighter duty vise. I will have to keep an eye out for an older Record. Thanks for everyones input!

That's no sissy vice my friend. I bought one similar about a year ago and its tough as hell. Good design and great steel when they were coming out of England.
Personally I don't like the swivel base very much though, I would just bolt it directly to the bench, no swivel piece.

Anything made in Sheffield is ****** brilliant.

The Irwins are nowhere near the quality of the Records but they have made them look VERY similar to the later model Records. I wonder if they shipped the molds out along with the name.
