I was browsing craigslist during lunch today and found a neet old Craftsman grinder with original stand 4 miles from my office. I just got back from picking it up.

Its a 1/2 hp ball bearing grinder with all accesories
I do not believe its missing anything.

I am quite excited about this.

Nice score!

I've got one just like it. These are known as craftsman "block" grinders, due to the square housing shape. They were made in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 hp models. Mine came on a post type pedestal. They are good solid machines, strong and with good bearings. Congrats.

there was one just like that at my local Habitat Restore. It sat there for weeks and the last price I saw was about what you paid. I still regret not picking it up.

Actualy that is not a block grinder, the block grinders came out in the mid 70's and are flat on top in the center. That round top is 60's early 70's. I just picked up a 1/3 HP version of that two days ago, a litte cheaper but no stand.

awesome grinder. i just scored one myself recently w/ 7 inch wheels 1/2 horsepower. looked barely used. even had the original accessory box w/ the water pot and guards in it. I gladly paid 50 bucks for it. You got yours for same price with the stand! definitely a good deal.

best part about these grinders--flip the switch and it is instantly at speed ready to get to work. the 8 inch asian one i had in the shop you would have to wait until it came up to speed.
