I recently bought a house and we have six cans in the ceiling along with a ceiling fan. The ceiling fan is not wired to the cans but to another ceiling outlet that had a second fan in the adjoining breakfast area. I replaced the breakfast area fan with a light fixture. So I have to turn the breakfast area lights on in order to turn on my fan. I want to wire the ceiling fan into the kitchen cans. I went into my attic and found where the cans wiring terminates. Can I remove the wiring that attaches the fan into the breakfast room and put it into the last can? I hope I make sense. I can provide a diagram if needed. Thanks

need alot more info.

is the kitchen fan and dining room light on a 3 way or single pole?

Does the feed go to the switch first or the light fixture?

which fixture comes first in the switch leg?

It's doable, just need to know how it's wired.

I don't know what you mean about how the three way is set up. There are two three way switches for the breakfast area and two three ways for the kitchen.

for the ceiling fan, you just need a piece of romex from any one of the can lights(preferably the last can in the chain) to the fan and then if the switch leg goes to the dinning area first just remove the romex between the ceiling fan and the dinning area light.

the 3 way function will stay the same.

That's what I thought. I found where the last can in the chain is as well as where the fan goes to the breakfast area. I'll give it a try and let you know. Thanks for the help.
