I just received this photo of a Wilton vise from a friend. I have never seen one like this before. It appears that the fixed jaw is a swivel jaw? Can anyone help identify this one?

Thanks,

Guy

Here's some slightly better pics that I just received. The jaws are 5". I can't get him to find a date code for me yet. Maybe tomorrow. I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy this. It seems to be fairly rare.

well if it has no cracks, and is in overall good shape, a vise like that would easily fetch 2 bills on CL around here. More than that and I'd have to think about it a little.

Really? I did see a thread with a Parker-style Wilton vise with a swivel jaw, but I can't find a vise like this in the classic Wilton "bullet" style. Do you have a link to the other one?

That's the 2nd one of those to show up on here recently...

I'd pay $250 for that although I'm not sure what to do with the swivel jaw. It looks like you need some new hardware if you want the base to swivel easily as well.

That Wilton I believe is a 450SJ. Wilton did not make alot of them so a collectability factor might also determine price. Have him not touch it. Its got 90% of the original paint and even one original finger saver. Maybe a little clean up would be nice. Guys, it you see one or even both finger savers on the handle, most likely that vise was lightly used.

I don't understand the point of the bolt-on rear jaw. Swivel how? How would you then use it to clamp something?

Are there different jaws that you can replace using just the one bolt?

I'm guessing that it's normally just aligned to give parallel jaws, but on the occasion that you've got something that's tapered and you need to clamp it real tight then that feature is going to be useful. :)

Their also helpful if you have something that wont fit between the jaws, you can remove it and use the wall or something else as the static jaw.
