I was thinking that, I do not have the money to buy and try them and turning a plastic nut on the case does not prove anything to me lol

The ratcheting versions of the crossforce are sweet for doing repetitive work and are great for drain plugs. The Gearwrench x beam versions were voted a top 20 tool by Motor magazine. I think they're also great for anytime you strike a wrench with the heel of your hand to loosen a fastener. Granted they won't replace your snap on wrenches but, if you don't like the way a thin profile wrench leaves a mark in you hand when loosening something tight, try the crossforce or x beam or whatever other danaher brands call it. They're worth having.

Heh...

I have both, in SAE and Metric.

The ExtremeGrips looked like they'd come in real handy, based on past experiences, but I haven't had call to use them. I got them on a Club sale for $15/set, I think.

The CrossForce, eh, they're not bad. They would have came in handy a couple times, if I would have thought about them, but I just reefed on whatever wrench I was using, and hurt my poor tender fingers. :(

I picked them up on a Club sale, as well, but I forget how much. I just need to remember that I've got them, the next time I've got a real tough fastener.

They're shiny in the toolbox...

Time to (appropriately) resurrect an old thread.

Just used them this weekend, and glad I had them.

I was disassembling the front end of my Explorer (finally started installing the suspension lift!!) and one of the bolts that attach the caliper bracket to the knuckle was all munged up.

Grabbed the ExtremeGrip that had the 15mm end on it, and it bit right in, and I got the bolt out.

Worked as advertised, so I'm quite happy.

Of course, I likely could have gotten away with using my bolt-outs or something else, but these were right there and did the job superbly.

I got the metric and SAE extreme grip wrenchs at Kmart when they were 2.50. Bought all they had, tried listing them on craigslist and no hits. Still in the back of the trunk.

I've been using my GW X-Beams, very similar to the cross forces, and am having mixed feelings about them. They're great for cranking things down, but I prefer using the open end on the fasteners than the box end - it slips of less. This isn't a huge deal since I mostly use these in exteme torque situations as follow-up to or prep for ratcheting wrenches.

I also got the Extreme Grips on sale for $2.50 at KMart.

I use them on brake lines. I'll break the line free with a line wrench, then if it's stubborn (can't be loosened with 2 fingers) I'll use the extreme grips.
