I found a 1932 Paxton and Gallagher Co. tool catalog. I love the old tool line art in these catalogs and thought I'd start a post to see if anyone else has some examples to.

Those Crescent pliers which sold for $0.50 in 1932 - - using today's $ ($0.035 in 1932 dollars equals about $0.50 in 2011) that were not really that inexpensive but at the same time are not really that expensive by today's prices.

Nice post. Thanks.

Cool stuff, thanks for posting. I love the amount of work that went into those drawings.

Does this nasty looking glove have a purpose? Or is it a self defense thing? Ouch!

I'd venture to say it was for cutting down some sort of crops when they used to do it by hand. They'd hook it and pull the blade back towards them. For some reason I'm thinking it was for wheat but I'm probably wrong on that.

It's for picking corn.

That's it. It's for pulling the ears off of the stalks. I remember seeing a video of it some time back on the History Channel on something like Modern Marvels, showing how they did it before combines. Thanks for refreshing my memory. At least I had the crop part right.
