I have been working with Garage Equipment Supply for the past few weeks to get a group buy for the members here. I finally have all the details.

The group buy will be offered at a price of $1800.00. They have also offered to provide a 15% discount on some Dannmar accessories. The details of the group buy are as follows.

The group buy will be available for one day only on 1/30/2012. The order must be placed on that day to receive the group buy price. If you want to participate in this group buy you need to call 805-222-8704 on 1/30/2012 and mention you want to take part of the Garage Journal MaxJax group buy.

There are three delivery options.

1. Default delivery – The MaxJax will be delivered to a business or residence (possible extra charge for residence *) where customer is responsible for unloading the MaxJax from the truck. This means you will need a forklift to remove it from the back of the semi-truck trailer. There is no additional change for this delivery.

2. Terminal delivery – The MaxJax will be delivered to a freight holding site for pickup. You will be responsible for picking it up using a pickup truck, trailer, etc. The cost for this type of delivery is $59.00

3. Liftgate delivery – The MaxJax will be delivered by a truck with a liftgate. This can be to a residence or business. The driver will be responsible for unloading the MaxJax from the truck and placing it on the driveway or in front of the residence (possible extra charge for residence *) or business. The cost for this is $135.00.

*** Residential delivery surcharge – An additional charge may be needed if the MaxJax has to be transferred to a smaller truck for residential delivery. If a full size semi-truck cannot get to your residence this fee will apply. The cost for this is an additional $40.00 on top of the liftgate fee.

For all delivery options above you will talk with someone at GES to discuss when you order. I just wanted to give an overview of the delivery options and possible charges.

GES has also offered to provide a 15% on Dannmar accessories. Basically anything besides compressors, lifts, tool chests from the link below should be eligible for the discount. They did say accessories which I take to mean the rolling chair, motorcycle adapter, oil collector, etc. You do not have to purchase the MaxJax to take part of the 15% accessory discount.

If you have any questions let me know and I will work with GES as needed.

Do you need to be a part of the group buy to get the 15% off accessories? Do you know or should I call? XD Thanks for sharing either way

I am pretty sure the 15% off accessories only applies to people buying a MaxJax during the group buy. I will ask GES to confirm. Thanks!

Thank you for taking the lead on this, I've been regretting not getting one for awhile and the price jumped right as I made up my mind to get one. This makes it a lot easier to get past the boss and auditor I married. :)

It is free if you unload it from the truck. See the orginal post that lists the delivery options.

Steve

I have no way to get it off the truck.
The price I got was $1950 with free dropgate shipping, and it was from Garage Equipment. So the price of the group buy saves only $15. from the price I got when I called them directly.

Some folks are never satisfied! Skamp, Thank you for all your effort.

Just stating what I was quoted when I called them. Not knocking Skamp at all. Organizing a group buy is hard to do and thankless. I have organized many and have also been told by a company that its a great deal and come to find out that the deal was available to everyone, everyday and all they had to do was call. That is all I was stating. I apologize to all the thin skinned people.

is it the 30th yet ? :)

Hoping they will let me pick it up in Moorpark, that is the way I bought my mid-rise from GES, I paid them and picked it up that afternoon from Bend Pak.

New here and researching this jack, looks like just at the right time! Glad I found this!

Seems odd the freight company charges you to pick it up at their terminal. I used to drive LTL for a living and, at least with where I worked, there was no charge for customer pick up. Doing them a favor by not having the driver come to your house, spend his time/fuel getting there, etc etc. But it is what it is I guess. Still a great deal.

Thanks for putting it together!

Anyone use this lift for old Detroit Iron?
I would feel perfectly comfortable loading my Saturn or Sonata on this, but it seems that getting the front to rear weight just right would be much more important on a 18.5 foot long 5000 pound 59 Buick or even my '96 Roadmaster wagon.

Anyone have experience with that?

I only have 8 foot ceilings, so I think this is definitely the lift for me if it's safe on those older cars.
I was leaning toward a scissor lift, but the full access this gives seems like a no brainer to go this way.

I lift my truck with it, full frame and about 4500 lbs. it goes up with no strain
You can see it lifted on MJ in the video link below

You can unload it yourself out of the back of your truck if you uncrate it and remove the pieces individually. Some are pretty heavy and a second person is nice to have (the main side frames pieces for example). I unloaded mine myself. Just take it apart in your truck bed, you will not be able to unload it all crated up unless you have a forklift or hoist.

I picked mine up at the truck terminal and they loaded it onto my truck with a forklift.

I already have one, but just want to say good job to skamp for getting it set up.

I can't find anywhere how much this unit actually weighs?

A full size lift I can see needing a forklift to unload, but can't this one just be quickly unloaded by hand, box by box?

Anyone have total weight and weight of each upright unit/control unit?

http://www.gesusa.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=1375659

Which lift is this exactly on their website??

Complete Unit 856 Lbs
Dims 79" Long 28" Wide 30" Tall
Individual Post 280lbs roughly.. The unit needs to be unloaded complete, the truck drivers frown on disassembling the unit to unload for liability purposes. Hope this helps..

Thanks for the work in getting this done. Unfortunately I am not able to do this right now. We're still recouping from buying the house and the money needs to go elsewhere. Oh how I wish I had the money for this, I want a lift so bad.

Don't forget that today is the group buy.

Steve

I just tried calling, at 9:22 am EST, which is 6:22 am PST. This is a direct line to someone's desk, so I'm guessing that we have to wait until 8-9 am PST to get them.

Yea they are west coast so I am sure you have to wait until 8-9 PST. I am anxious to order as well.

Thanks for setting this up, Steve. I wanted one, but was going to put it off for a couple months. At $500 savings, I'm getting it now. I'm not sure I understand their logic behnid offering such a huge discount, but I'm not arguing.

I know it's kinda last minute, but I've read of two concerns with the MaxJax:

1: Safety concerns with the anchor point install instructions/recommendations.

2: The quick disconnect connectors are cheap and leaky.

Anyone know if these issues have been addressed?

Here's links to a another forum's discussions of these concerns:

http://www.pro-touring.com/archive/index.php/t-65690.html

http://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?72068-MaxJax-installation-and-update

Thanks!

Both of those topics have been discussed many times on this forum. As far as the anchors it seems like most issues have been with overdrilling the hole so it is not tight enough when you hammer it in. This could be from using a crappy hammer drill, old bit, not following instructions, etc.

There is a post where someone used 2 laser levels at a 90* angle as a guide to make sure the drill bit is perpendicular to the concrete. That looks like the best method to prevent wobble or having the hole at an angle. They said when they did this method the anchors were much tighter than doing it by eye.
