I have had a problem with hot tire pu on epoxy paints from home depot and sherwin williams brand. Either my prep wasn't perfect or i'm better off with a superior product and do i need to totally remove all the existing epoxy paint to add another brand

Yes, you need to grind off the existing coating and make sure the substrate is able to absorb water readily as a test. If the floor will absorb the water quickly it will do the same with your coating.

Scotty, my garage floor is 9 years old and is only covered by the clear sealer they put down after pooring the floor. Will an acid wash clean the suface enought for epoxy paint or should I grind the floor? Thanks

Acid needs to be in direct contact with your concrete. The existing sealer will act as a shield and render the acid useless. You will likely have to grind it off. It's just as well as a grind is your best prep for a coating system bar none.

However, you could attempt to strip the sealer and try acid etching at that point. There are citrus and soy strippers available as well as nasty solvent types.
