I am finally looking for cabinets to finish the kitchen in my addition. So far we have the following prices:

Kitchen Magic: $20,000
Local lumber yard for KraftMaid: $11,000
Barker cabinets: $6,800

I am haven't found any warning signs about the barker cabinets but was wondering if anybody else had experience with them.

Thanks,

Just bought some drawer boxes from Barker. There was a fair amount of chipout on the boxes, but the dovetails fit VERY tight. I'd buy from them again.

What do you mean by chipout?

In the grooves where the bottoms sit, the top ply didn't cut very cleanly. Plywood is notorious for "shipping out" like this, but if the right precautions are taken it can be minimized. Like I said, overall I am happy with the results for the price paid.

I would have done the drawer boxes myself, but I reached the point where I was dreading the thought of it, and I didn't have a dovetail jig, so I just bought the boxes. Another year (already 2 into it) and my kitchen might be done! I get distracted easily.

Ok, thanks. I think I am 2 years into the addition and just have the kitchen to finish. At this point it is cabinets, countertop, finish the plumbing and get propane run for the cooktop and Im done. Then I get to rip the old kitchen out, redo the hardwoods in the old partof the house, 7 new windows and siding on the old part, oh and switch a door for a slider and redo the heat in the old kitchen. Minor stuff :)
