Here's one of my recent projects

img00120201103141404.jpg

I hand made this by making a mold of my favorite mask and laying up a kevlar/carbon fiber weave material in epoxy resin.

How do you like the Corvette paint scheme?

I also have a vinyl decal cutter which we used for the graphics here.

More project pics coming....

Gorgeous shop. Corvette scheme on the mask looks good. With the C6 flags you could have also done a Jake look on the back.

i think you meant C5.

and to the OP - how do you ever find time for projects with so many, well, projects going on?

Very nice set up. It's fortunate to have the space to expand to suit your needs, isn't it? It makes working on projects a joy - not work at all! I know we get a lot of different projects completed because having the space/tools organized helps with the efficiency. Being able to complete things "fast" is a motivator - we love seeing the end product in use, which is the point of it all.

Welcome to GJ.

Awesome shop. Clearly years in the making there - both in construction and in your mind!

I have to say I am most jealous of the Supertest sign. I am Canadian and you don't find those down here in the states! I grew up around Oshawa and I have never looked for vintage Canadian gas signs - are they rare up there?

Awesome stuff Amazzen, I think I'd like the mini hockey rink as much as the garages!

I'm curious whether you acquired all the equipment piecemeal over the years, or did you buy out a business or two as they were closing? I'm at the point where I am acquiring the equipment I want/need, but it's going to take me a lifetime to get to where I want to be, once piece at a time.

Where did you get the storage cabinets with drawers in you "small parts storage"? I went to an auction last week hoping to pick some up (they had 8 of them) but they went for 800+ a pieceand I didnt want to spend that much. Just trying to find another outlet to get them.

Holy **** ! Nice dude, very nice.. Thanks for sharing !

Thank you and you're welcome.

Thanks, what's a "Jake look"?

i think you meant C5.

C5 is correct! Long days and and an obsessive passion to do stuff.

Now theres a guy who does some work in his awesome garage!!! Very Nice!

Thanks; yes, other than drivetrain internals and upholstery, I'm somewhat capable of doing most of the work myself. (because I prefer to as well).

Thank you too Chris.....You're absolutely right about efficiencies. I think the experience that helped me the most was restoring my 69 Charger in my small garage while working and raising a young family.... you need to make the most out of every precious second!

I was sitting here looking through threads at different garages and I run across one that the guy has a frickin' ZAMBONI of all things sitting in his garage.

Not only am I a little green, I think I felt a tear roll down my cheek :willy_nil

What I wouldn't give to have to tell the wife that I have to get in the car just to drive down to the other garage, and then have her ask WHICH garage :shocking:

Very nice indeed and will be watching for future pics for sure

In our family, each of our buildings has its own name - Barn, Shop, Shed, Honey House, Coach House, Coal Shed, Brown Garage, etc.... It's like children - only when you get mad you can't remember which name to call out!

This is that moment where I realize that no matter what I do, how big I build, or what I fill it with.... My garage will always be inferior.

Hats off to you, sir.

I can't believe you guys have not said it yet. You ****!! Damn nice setup, you are Godly in my eyes.

Why has no one said anything about the '69 Charger???
That thing is absolutely beautiful!
Really admire the fact that Dad plays around in the shop every day. I miss my Dad!

The absolute best setup I've ever seen!

Thanks, definitely many years in the making, LOL.

Yes, Supertest petroliana is very rare no matter where you look. As a matter of fact, I acquired and restored a Canadian Vulcanizer pump years ago and haven't been able to find information on it other than this old museum photo:

From what I recall, Canadian Vulcanizer also started the Supertest Brand. Here's the restored pump...

Awesome stuff Amazzen, I think I'd like the mini hockey rink as much as the garages!

Thanks, I enjoyed building the boards and glass. I'm in the middle of finishing benches and a better change area.

I'm curious whether you acquired all the equipment piecemeal over the years, or did you buy out a business or two as they were closing? I'm at the point where I am acquiring the equipment I want/need, but it's going to take me a lifetime to get to where I want to be, once piece at a time.

I was fortunate to get the Tow Truck and brake lathe from my dad's old business, but everything else came a little at a time. Looking for projects, tools and epuipment is an ongoing treasure hunt...never a dull moment and the hardest part is convincing myself that I don't need it or have the room for it.

Where did you get the storage cabinets with drawers in you "small parts storage"? I went to an auction last week hoping to pick some up (they had 8 of them) but they went for 800+ a pieceand I didnt want to spend that much. Just trying to find another outlet to get them.

2 of my gray storage cabinets were bought new for about $1400 a piece and the others I bought from a downsizing business as a lot. These things are pretty heavy duty so $800/ea used is not out of line, buy if you're patient and keep hunting I'm sure you'll do much better.

I was sitting here looking through threads at different garages and I run across one that the guy has a frickin' ZAMBONI of all things sitting in his garage.

Not only am I a little green, I think I felt a tear roll down my cheek :willy_nil

Thanks for the chuckle. Its not all its cracked up to be though... first, its a pain if you need a certain tool and you have to drive back to the main shop (10 times....arrrrrgh) and your wife WILL catch on and insist you wear a tracking device...

In our family, each of our buildings has its own name - Barn, Shop, Shed, Honey House, Coach House, Coal Shed, Brown Garage, etc.... It's like children - only when you get mad you can't remember which name to call out!

Chris

LOL. us too! Big Shop, Middle shop, Dome, etc..

This is that moment where I realize that no matter what I do, how big I build, or what I fill it with.... My garage will always be inferior.

Hats off to you, sir.

Thanks, however make no mistake....there will always be a better place out there...But in the end, I will always like mine better....'cause its mine!

Wow, just wow, I consider myself a car guy and I think the ice rink is actually my favorite.

Thank you... I tend to think that my favorite project is the one I'm currently working on.

I'll do that very soon, stay tuned.

Obviously i made a poor choice of careers. what a piece of land you have there. welcome to the garagejournal.

Thanks for the welcome. Hey, I was lucky to have a decent toy when I was a kid...no complaints, I had my imagination. I contribute my success to doing the best I can with everything I've been given the opportunity to do.

I love it!! What a great place you have! You are living my dream by the way. When I get done with the raising kids and building my business, restoring cars is my dream.

Thank you so much and I wish you the best as well. Besides, it looks like you're well on your way there already.

The restoration hobby is very gratifying, but finally being able to put my family ahead of work without consequence (and no work ahead of family) is the greatest feeling of all.

Thank you Mm, the Charger is my favorite.

Having Dad around is great and I'm not looking forward to the day when I miss him too. Until then we're making the most of the time we've been blessed with.

Here's a recent restoration of another Charger of mine...

How many cars do you have restored and how many more do you have to go, without buying anymore that is?

I'm really envious of your talent for restoring those cars! Man that Daytona is awesome! I've never seen one those in real life. Is that a GM Product next to it, the rag top?

The more I read about you the more I want to be your best friend!!

If your wife is a Super Model too, I'm going to have to hurt somebody. LOL

How many cars do you have restored and how many more do you have to go, without buying anymore that is?

Let me give you the list:

Done (restored or not needing resto)
58 Corvette 290hp Fuelie
67 Corvette 435hp Convertible
82 Corvette Collectors Edition
69 Camaro RS/SS Convertible
56 Thunderbird 312cu in
69 Charger Hemi clone
Shelby Cobra replica
68 Shelby Mustang
89 Chevy Tow Truck (for Dad)
77 Lincoln Continental Town car (sort of)
69 GTO Coupe (for a very good friend)
70 Mustang Fastback (for a brother of mine)

In progress
69 Camaro Z28/RS Coupe
76 Camaro Type LT

Waiting in Storage
54 Corvette
57 Chev Belair Convertible
69 Camaro Pace Car Convertible
71 Plymouth GTX
70 Charger
69 Trans Am Coupe
69 Trans Am Coupe (I have 2)
68 Corvette 400hp Covertible
69 Firebird Convertible
70 Challenger T/A
70 Cuda AAR
65 GTO convertible

Most of the cars were bought before I built the new shop and kept in storage until I could get to them. That journey spanned about 15 years. I still have a lifetime of projects left to do.... that's why the shop is a must.

At 53 years of age, I'm hoping to live long enough to buy a few more, LOL.

Holy cow batman :rocker:

Bruce (how appropriate),

Since you asked for it, I'll let the "Bat out of the bag"...

jan3010outside027.jpg

Biggest undertaking to date, it was 3 years in the making. Almost evrything was made from scratch.

......My Hero's greatest line....... "we haven't a moment to lose"!

My favorite however was....."To the Batmobile...." and its even cooler when you can actually do it!

Some people have all the toys and space!

Are you adopting any time soon? :D

Since the kids have all left the nest (with their dogs), I have to say adoption would be a very long shot, LOL.

(2) 69 Trans Am's? Love it!!!! Nice list of cars and great job on the resto!! What's special edition about the Daytona?

Thanks, "SE package" was available on standard Charger models (woodgrain dash treatment, minor cabin upgrades and 2 badges on the sail panels). The rarity on the Daytona is kind of strange because Daytona options were preassigned by Dodge (no one ordered a Daytona) and only 9 were given this "SE" option. What's even better is that this Daytona is one of 2 "Canadian SE Daytonas"!

Close, 1955 Lincoln Futura (Ford Concept Car).
George Barris bought it from Ford in 1965 for $1 and transformed it into the Batmobile for the 1966 TV Series. (Barris still owns it and its sitting in his SoCal shop!)

Zogman, I'm also admiring your Cougar ragtop, very nice....is it a big block?
