There aren't too many tools at Lowes that are made in the USA. Many of the tools they carry are asian junk. They still carry a limited selection of USA made Channellock pliers. Those would be a good place to start, particularly if you get 10% off.

Your the one that works there. You would be able to have access and knowledge to all the sales and specials before the general public does. Just pay attention while at work and keep your eyes open.

Lowes sells decent Asian tools besides the junkie workforce stuff. The Kolbolt ratchets and wrenches and ratcheting wrenches are good quality. And the sockets are nice and they are color code for metric and SAE. They are made in Taiwan and are of good quality and material. Unlike the junky chinese stuff.

As stated Channellock, good Bosch stuff.

The local lowes raised their knipex stuff way high! Pisses me off. I WAS going to buy the linemans for 30$ but they're 45 now. Crazy. Those mini bolt cutters? 55. I bought mine at Sears of all places for 40. ugh.

If you're a metalworker like me, the little files in the chainsaw section are pretty nice (swiss made, 5$ or so for a smaller mill file). I believe I bought my Olfa cutters back home there but they don't have them up here. I hate this Lowes. Can you tell?

We never get inside information on upcoming sales.

Wait for a tool you want to go NON stock, and then get an ASM/zone to take 80-90% off.

I made two good deals at Lowes both on Milwaukee tools. My wife was looking at cabinets and window coverings so I walked over to the tool aisle. They had a close out table and I noticed a Milwaukee drill for $28. Just as I was going to pick it up one of the associates grabbed it, marked it down to $20 and handed it to me. Later they had a stack of Milwaukee Sawsalls on close out for $30. I have some of the USA made Kobolt tools and they have held up well. I usually buy Kliens tools there as they are cheaper then the local electrical supply.

Several years ago, all of the sockets etc were made in USA. I still occassionaly find US made 1/2" stuff at my local Lowes.

Most of the 3/8" and 1/4" stuff is made in taiwan.

They sell all of the standard main lines stuff still, so anything dewalt, bosch, knipex, klein, channellock...

if you can find it, and it's cheap. then get it. Most of the kobalt stuff has lifetime warranty, to the point that I've warrantied several sockets with chipping chrome.
