Which Channel locks are on closeout at HD? I was in there a week or so ago and there were a lot of channel locks but I did not see any sale stickers. I do love me some channel locks tho.

Check post #10602 in this thread (because I can't seem to figure out how to link directly to a post at the moment). At least as of that writing, they don't have any special stickers or anything.

In my area they had the 8WCB for $14, the #909 for $10, the #437 for $10, the #85 for $13 and the #350s for $13

I bought all and x2 on the #909 and the #437 ;)

One store I visited a few days ago had changed the display and those items were no longer stocked as part of the Channellock display. They added new Chinese Milwaukee branded items and some new China Dewalt items to their pliers offerings.

It's possible they just moved them to another section for clearance, so you may want to check around if you do not see them with the other Channellocks.

Also, the online prices for me never reflected the clearance prices except the 909s, even when adding my local store.

I guess websites don't have to abide by the same policy store fronts do, where if you buy it and they tell you it actually costs more it's considered bait and switch and is considered fraud.

"In the United States, courts have held that the purveyor using a bait-and-switch operation may be subject to a lawsuit by customers for false advertising, and can be sued for trademark infringement by competing manufacturers, retailers, and others who profit from the sale of the product used as bait" - Wikipedia

If you REALLY want that ladder...

Bait and switch is an illegal marketing ploy. Getting you to come into a store purposely with a false price and wasting your time and money is different than trying to buy a $100 ladder for $10 and 3 seconds of your time, knowing very well it's a mistake, when it would be a big loss for them to send to you.

A pricing error/mistake is different, and does not have to be honored in most cases.

I just picked up the crimper. There was a small piece of pegboard in the middle of the back isle which had the remaining Channellock stuff.

I probably should have bought some of the Channellock stuff, but I really don't need any. There were no Whalen carts that I could find, and no Ryobi planer (I would have really liked that, but no stores around me carry it apparently).

Jesus, yeah. Get a lawyer, go to town. See how that works out for you.

Read the fine-print of the websites in question, they give themselves an out, with disclaimers that they're not required to honor pricing mistakes, etc.

not that i was advocating, but in general, legal threats tend to accomplish more than strongly worded letters. Unless your strongly worded letter is written by your attorney.

to be clear, just making a rhetorical argument, not advocating legal action for them pricing something wrong. The only reason I know about it is the shop I used to work at had consistent pricing issues until new management came in.

Lawyers make lots of money per hour. It would make no sense to pay one to write you a letter for a dispute over a ladder, especially when there is not much in terms of damages that you have incurred.

That being said, if there were a class action garage journal lawyer representing the hot deals index, they might make a lot of money. The plaintiffs and the defendant, not so much.

My store had the channel locks at the prices that were posted here, BUT they were no sale stickers. It was the regular sticker, so if you dd not know the price before you would not have known they were on sale.

Lowe's has the Dewalt DC970K-2 18v cordless drill on sale for $99 right now. I just picked one up. They were originally amost $200 I think. Also a big drillbit combo for $20.

May be in store only, not sure.

I didn't see it specified but those are NiCAD, not a great deal unless you need yesterday's battery technology :)

I found one of those clearance Ryobi planers, display only at the Home Depot at 14 Mile/Orchard Lake Farmington Hills MI. Too bad I don't think I'll be able to use it.

Still no luck finding the channel lock cutters though.

Price just went up, it was $36 about 5 mins. Should have bought one.

Yup deal is dead, I bought one thinking it was 3/8 but when I got my order confirm I saw it was 1/4 in so I cancelled it. I don't need anymore more 1/4 sockets, especially after I got in on the 15.00 SK clearance sets!

Home Depot has the Ryobi 13 inch 15 amp Wood Planer SKU 348-277 for an incredible price of $57.03 :scared: Marked down from $229.

Obviously YMMV, and it appears to be in store only.

Yeah, it is made in China, and yeah, it is a Ryobi and not a Dewalt, but for that price it is a smokin' deal.

I had to take the display model as it was all they had.

Just found the floor model at my store as well. Gave it to me for $40 out the door! :rocker:

Posting Hot Deals on items sold by Amazon is always a dicey proposition. Takes just a couple sales before they adjust their prices. I was gonna post a deal on these Wright Digital Torque Wrenches but the price adjusted on the 1/4 right after I bought. Its appears to be made by CDI and the description/photos arent accurate.

if that was the DCD970 drill, then that would be an awesome deal... but the DC970 is low-end and often goes on sale for about that much.

I've ordered from USAToolWarehouse (same group) and had no problems. Takes forever to ship, as the items are drop shipped and not instock...but the price at the time justified the wait

I wanted to order this but if you type the company name into google comes up with lots of ripoff reports. Anyone have any dealings with this company?

Google for the GearWrench part number - there's several online sellers giving the 2-for-1 deal.

Called my store and they said these are marked to ship back to the vendor and they can't sell it.

I notice that about a lot of deals other people list here for Lowes or HomeDepot. Out local stores either don't have it or don't have it on sale. Stinks...

you never call the store when there's a really good deal on something. often times folks will have their friends come buy it for them so they can re-sell on ebay or craigslist. unless you're really far far away, it's better just to walk into the store and look for the item and try to do self-checkout so no one gives you any hassle.

Agreed!!! Also, just because the price on the shelf or tag is the original price doesn't mean it's not on sale. The local HD by me seems to always be behind on updating price tags...especially when they are really good deals.

that's another good point and often true. if a store is under staffed or the manager is too busy, price tag updates will be behind.

check with tool topia. They often run these same gearwrench deals and I have dealt with them several times with zero issues.

here ya go. It seems their pricing is a little off with this set. Looks like an error almost. Might be worth calling them and verifying the price.

This one looks more normal for these "free" sets

I hit on the Proto rubber mallet posted here a couple days ago. I got it for $11.30. I checked back right after my order went through and the price went DOWN to $11.11. Today it's back up to $27.06. Meh.

If you have a pep boys near you and need garage stuff I picked up a good deal today.

Big Red 10 Piece garage combo.

2 1/2 ton jack, jack stands, wheel chocks, magnetic parts tray, filter wrench, drip pan, 4 way lug wrench, and somehow they fit a creeper in the box too.

It's $69.99 on the shelf but there's a $20 mail in rebate. I tried to upload a pic but the forum keeps saying image upload failed

I got the planer and channel locks today. I left home depot like I hit the lottery. Then my right rear caliper locked up which returned me back to reality.

So I am waiting on an order from Sears.com and I see:

Location Date Local Time Activity
Salt Lake City, UT, United States 02/10/2012 6:34 P.M. Origin Scan
Salt Lake City, UT, United States 02/08/2012 9:17 P.M. Agent pickup; in transit to UPS facility.
United States 02/08/2012 6:20 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

It takes 2 days for the "agent" to pickup the product and drop it off at UPS? I swear this "agent" is probably keeping all the "made in USA" craftsman stuff and replacing them with Taiwan/China made ones...
