JH Williams Reversible Stubby Wrenches

Anyone have any first hand experience with these? A good stubby set (mm/sae) is the missing link to my wrench collection, and I am debating between ratcheting and non. Seems the NorthernTool stubbies get good reviews on this site, and I will likely check more into them. But the idea of the reversible ratcheting stubby has me intrigued. Just not sure if that curiousity is worth 3x as much! I searched around the forum a bit, but did not find many discussions on these or their bluepoint counterpart.

Is the ratcheting feature worth the extra cost? I can think of numerous times just a stubby open end would've helped. Also, where is the best place to buy these wrenches. Toolsdelivered seems like best prices I have seen thus far, but says the SAE set is backordered....

I have the standard set. the gears are very smooth, kinda bulky compare to Gearwrench. btw, they are Taiwan.

COO isn't as big a deal to me, as quality. I've got stuff made all over. Are they too big to be useful as a stubby wrench? Can't really tell overall size online...

The Blackhawk ratcheting stubbies are much nicer. The Williams are too bulky. We have both sets at work and the Blackhawks are used mostly.

I never could understand the point of stubby ratcheting wrenches. When you're in a tight spot and you need a stubby, chances are that bulky ratchet end is gonna get in the way. Defeats the whole purpose.

Depends on if the obstruction is for length or for the head of the wrench. I could see a stubby ratchet Wrench being useful in tight quarters

If you gotta nut up against something real close and it's surrounded 180 degrees, you can forget about that bulky ratcheting box end.

ratcheting stubbys are great especially for starters. ive never needed a non ratcheting stubby where i could have used a short snap on wrench..... you cant put high torque on a stubby, so you might as well have a ratcheting feature

A stubby is for where you have limited space for a full length wrench; has nothing to do with clearance to the nut per se...

Well I have 2 new sets made in U.S.A. ordered and recieved fast via a post on GJ..Thanks!...This is my first set of stubby's after wrenching sence the 70's. But I don't tangle with the new stuff. Just older and custom, will be needing to learn 4bt & 6bt diesels for my Scout II's , 73' CJ5 and my 88' F-350 7.3 idi. So might need them then. Just in case!
