Wobble plus extensions

Anyone have the Snap On Wobble plus extensions? Instead of having a fixed and a wobble extension, you can have both in one tool that is the wobble plus extension. This is a Snap On tool and expensive but you might save some space with a set of these extensions. I bought a set for 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch, and 1/2 inch drive for about $500.00

What is your experience with these tools? So far for me they seem to hold up well.

It looks like you push it halfway on for a wobble, and all the way for a solid extension, which means you need two grooves in the socket for the ball, which I would *guess* means they'll only work with the snap-on sockets.

They work with any socket, they do not lock when fully pushed on. but they do not fall off because they would slip out to the half position and the detent would catch. They work good, I like them but would not replace my regular extensions for this, just add to my others.

I don't think I would like that. I would rather have regular and wobble extensions seperate. It would also reduce the depth of your socket, if you were taking a nut off a stud and had it set to be rigid.

Don't most wobble sockets work like that? I know my el-cheapo MIT wobbles do.... Mad in Taiwan and cost me a whopping $20...

I have the Snap on 3/8 drive wobble plus set and most of their 1/4 drive wobble plus set. They're very handy and take up less space than having a regular extension set and some wobble extensions on your cart. As for reducing the overall length of a socket/extension setup, the difference is minimal. To go from wobble to straight, the socket is pushed further on to the extension so that the square area above the wobble cutout contacts the female drive part of the socket. They are handy. Are they worth the money? Without starting the usually brand war, they can be to the right person. It is nice to able to switch from straight to wobble by moving the socket slightly without having to switch extensions.
However, Sears sells similiar extension sets under their Companion line. They are similiar in the fact that they are extensions, they have knurling on the shaft, and feature the wobble plus design. They can be had for less than $10 for a 3 piece set. I am not saying that they are equal to or better than the Snap on versions. However, if you wanted to try the wobble plus type extension out, you could do so with a minimum investment at Sears.

I bought the short SO wobble and just clip it to the end of a standard extension when I need the wobble. It works great, but don't kid yourself, I would love to ditch all of my extensions and get the 500 buck kit above. Too much other stuff I need in my box right now to do that though. One day....

I have SO wobble sets in all three sizes and will not be upgrading or trading what I already have, they do just fine!

I bought a set of 1/2" drive Companion :shocking: extensions a couple of years ago that do the same thing. I think they were like $10 or so. I've used them several times and they worked fine for my needs.

I did not know that there are similar extensions available from Sears. This is good to know and it will help people save a lot of money. I wish I had known this.

I have the 3/8's set, got it with my discount through tech school, I dont even touch my regular extensions anymore I like them so much. There are plenty of bolts I run into where they are just partially blocked and its nice to have the option of a wobble. Although, they have a tendancy to snap into the straight extension position at the wrong time if you push down to hard on the ratchet.

What!? You didn't have to go to the emergency room because of flying shards from an exploding extension? I'll have to rethink this.

I remembered having a loose fitting 1/4 dr extension. I just ran out to the garage and checked, sure enough, found a 6 in long Snapon wobble extension, TMXW60. This is great! Woke up this morning with a crappy loose fitting extension and now I have a Snapon speciality tool! Life is good.

You mean you thought it was a loose fitting regular extension until you read this thread? That would be awfully funny if it's true.

Same here. I use wobbles for almost anything that is not impact related.
