Not sure if this is the appropriate section or not (feel free to move this) but I created a logo for my pop's shop today and styled it after a tool box tag, utilizing the style of lettering found on his truck (hand painted! support sign painters). Since this is THE place for garage knowledge I wanted to get some feedback from the people who know vintage tool box tags. Whattya think?

Thanks all, much appreciated. Have not shown my pop yet, going to take this design and build him a website around it for his shop.

Wow! Is that just a photo - it looks so much like a real tag.

Designed it all from scratch using some textures and Photoshop trickery. The type was derived from the original hand lettering found on my pops tow truck, which I created digitally with some more accents. I am working on another for my blog that I will post up soon. Thanks for the comments everyone.

Did another this time for my Rambler blog. Tried for more pitting on the surface on this one and gave it a wood background to make it pop a bit more. Thoughts?

Like em both. You did an excellent job! Now can you put these on a vinyl peel and stick type material?

Yeah that wouldn't be a problem since they are digital files, just a matter of finding a good sticker printer.

I never knew textures could be replicated so realistically. Great work!

Nice work - looks good!

I absolutely hate the Photoshop interface but it's a very powerful tool. It'll do all kinds of effects and whatnot, you just have to make yourself learn it. I even took a 15 week class - did OK, still hate it. I use Fireworks, which is now an Adobe product.

Photoshop is my full time job.. Architectural Illustrator. Photoshops interface can be a pain but you get used to it using all day long.. then they go and do a update and change it all. I'm still using CS4, sometimes all the new features just slow you down.

We have textures for just about anything... if you can take a picture of it there is a texture of it.

SOP for Adobe LOL. I think we tried CS5 and my wife hated most of it, so we're still using CS3 for web and such. Looks like there are at 5.5 now. She can do stuff with PS, so I kick it to her if I need special stuff that Fireworks can't handle easily. LOL.
