This is a year 2000 Craftsman Professional Ball Bearing tool box. Made by Waterloo USA, purchased from Sears by me.

The roll away has 5 drawers (reconfigurable) and a bulk storage at the bottom.

The chest has 6 drawers, and I have the tote tray for the top.

I have always kept it indoors, and kept it waxed with Meguire's... The pics aren't that great I know, but the box is super shiny.

Drawers are 22.5"W, 16.5"D, various heights.

Comes with new Snap-On drawer liners.

I am not sure what to ask on Craigslist. I am hoping for $500, but wanted to run a sanity check by you guys.

I'm guessing that a fair price would be about 1/3 of what a comparable new one sells for. Of course, I'd start a little high and work my way down on the price if necessary.

I have been buying and selling everyting form fine art to scrap metal sense 1962.

The fact that it is an aniversary additon means nothing.
I would expect to get $225 to $300 for the 2 pieces.

I know that is not what you want to hear.
Start it where you want. List it for 10 days at a time. Then relist it for $50 less everytime until it sells. You will not be happy.

If you need the money the amount you get for the box will not fix your problems. If you don't need the box you can hold out for more money.

As a contractor I have seen every carpenter sell his tools in hard times. Then he has nothing to make his living with.

I had someone ask me for a job every day on the construction site. I would ask them if they brought thier tools. 99 percent of them always said no. I would tell them you did not come prepaired to work so I am sorry I can't use you today. I would give the ones who had thier tools a chance and I fired most of them after the second day.

You have already spent the money on the box. I would keep it for my tools. You will loose money and you will always need it if you have tools.
The decorators are using tool chest as bedroom furniture these days. They work great in a man cave. LOL

You can never have too many tool boxes.

I think asking $500 for top and bottom is fine, but I'd be happy if I got $350 to $400 for the two.

Snap-On dwr liners really isn't gonna net you a big price boon and with the new boxes out there being less than comparable, it's hard to do an apples to apples side by side.

Back in mid 2000's I bought that same C'man top box used from my SO driver for $75 EXCEPT it was the 12 dwr top box.

Storage hutch is often a drawback as dwrs are more sought after.

Made in USA get points, but with the 26" wide box market so flooded from HF, Menards, Kobalt and the newer **** Craftsman boxes, it's not going to be a fast sell at that price in my opinion unless you can access a mfgr factory or high head count shop where new employees need entry level boxes.

I picked up a second HF 5dwr cart and if I ever resold it, I don't think I could get $100 for it if in new condition.
I do also have an older 26" wide C'man base roller from late 80's that has the lift up storage door /storage hutch area plus 4 dwrs and I think I could get more out of it for scrap metal than as a minty US made box.

There is a demand, but folks don't care to pay for much unless it's a truck brand box these days.

---

EDIT:

Here's a pic of the box I picked up for $75 back then . Still use it as a home box to this day.
SO screwdriver was used and $35 LOL.

I nowdays only part with boxes if I HAVE to or trade up, as there is very little value in them to most folks sadly.

I'm thinking $300 would be a fair price. If you don't need to sell it just hang on to it. You'll miss it down the road.... Or the next time your buying a new SO box negotiate your best price with the dealer first and then trade it in.

In the Southeast in all likleyhood you would be looking at $200-250 and it would take a few weeks to sell. You would never get $300 in this part of the country. I can't imagine getting any more than 1/3 of retail selling price for these in any part of the country.

Well, the Cornwell guy offered me $500 for both boxes, in exchange for a Cornwell 700 series cart that I pay $500 for! (basically $500 off the $1000 sale price of the cart).

I think i'm gonna do it. The yellow 7 drawer cart is awesome, and has the same square inches as my current cabinet and chest!

The boxes I see on CL around here are normally folks that are trying to get payoff for the box after only paying a year on it from the truck, or they are overpriced lower end boxes. I try to keep in mind that people shopping on CL are usually looking for a real bargain, or they are someone that does not know much about what they are buying (the ones that some of the sellers are beating to death with high prices). If you can get that much trade in, it will save you some hassle and get you a nice new box.
