What is one tool you never knew how you lived without? For me I dont know how I ever lived without a respectable vise.

A computer, I didn't get my first one until 2000 but there are a lot of times I wish I never got one to begin with, because I spend waaaay too much time on it. Seriously though it is a very useful tool for research, learning, storing things on etc.

Don't forget, spending a lot of money with. eBay has been dangerous with tool purchases as of late. :D

As for my most useful tool, a proper full size floor jack. I've had a little trolley jack for a couple years now, finally bought a proper full size jack. Such a huge difference in usability.

Good ratchets. Before I got my Dual 80s I used Craftsman. I don't know how I could tolerate how ****** my 3/8" and 1/2" cmans were. The teardrop 1/4" I had was more ergonomic than the other two (RPs) but the guts were just as lousy. I still use there sockets almost exclusively, but I wouldn't piss on the best part of a Cman ratchet.

Decent ear plugs. They keep me sane. I usually keep a pair tied around my neck.

Sad as it sounds, with a tool box full of tools and thousands invested, not a day goes by (when I turn wrenches) that I don't use this thing 10-30 times a day.

Free from most any tool truck.

I don't know why, but find it useful for almost anything and everything.

My recent purchase of a hot water pressure washer. I am always involved with old car/truck/tractor restoration and 50 year old hardened grease is always a problem to remove. Picked up a used Hotsy 1000psi pressure washer with a burner on it and it literally melts grease off of whatever I hit it with. Paid $400 for it. Best $400 I have ever spent.

A 3/8 impact. It is light years better than and 3/8 air ratchet the only time is use one is in hard to reach areas like say a hex bolt on a rear caliper. also a good set of screwdrivers, We all know that mismashed set of worn out craftsman and other random brands that consumes a whole drawer. Well after i got a good set of Williams hard handles i was set. now just for the torx screwdriver i need oh so much.

I'm going to second this. I don't have a shop large enough to own one, but on the farm it's a miracle. It'll blow through the nastiest grime almost instantly and make parts look brand new. Saves a ton of time and headache.

The good old pocket screwdriver, i feel lost if I don't have one with me. Great for so many uses, I don't know how any auto techs do it without one.

Amen! I don't bother tackling a job that involves wire connectors unless I gave one on me.

That, combined with a good pocket flash light!

Quite possibly the most useful tool in my box.

Multimeter. Like no other mechanical too that can be substituted for in a lot of cases, a fully functioned DMM is indispensable when debugging electrical systems and circuits.
