I am familiar with the tool shed in Waltham, just wondering if there are any other stores in Mass/RI worth checking out? Also, any pawn shops that specialize in tools? Thanks

There's a pawnshop in brockton called traders mart. Its buried in the city not too close to 24 but they have a lot of tools and you can expect some success bartering as you should at any establishment selling used tools.

I've been going to the Tool Shed in worcester for 5 years. The owner, Jim, has been the owner for 2+ years. The previous owner, Al, was the original owner. Both good guys. You do get an older crowd there (50+) that just hangs out there (I think they're bored?). Some good deals but also a lot of scavengers go there and get all the good deals while the working man is at work. They do have a "Prices are final" sign, but that's directed towards the non-regulars.

As for the Tool Shed in Waltham, I've been there once. Small store with a decent selection.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up on the Tool Shed. Never heard of it and swung by the one in Waltham today. I'll definitely be going by there again, esp if I need any taps or dies. They had tons for cheap!

Filled in some missing Craftsman RP wrenches for a couple of bux and picked up this sweet little 60's Craftsman tool box for $6.50!

There's one in Southern NH in Derry... I believe it is called the Tool Liquidation Center. I have been in there a couple of times and they have some good stuff. I have been to the one in Waltham too, and I think that the one in Derry is a little larger with a more organized selection.

Any suggestions for Boston? I get here from time to time and haven't come across any good places as yet. I usually stay downtown or near the airport, and rely on public transportation for the most part. I did get up to Salem and found a second hand store with a few tools, but the owner was not in and the sfaff could not negotiate prices.

Dang! I hope my C-man box restore job just comes close to your baby! I spent more than $6.50 on paint ans sandpaper!:lol_hitti

And I'd be willing to bet it late 60's or more probably 70's - due to the plastic handle.

Maclaughlin's Used Tools is another. Located in Peace Dale, RI. Open weekends only

Checked it out last weekend, scored some miscellaneous sockets, not bad overall

I go to Plaistow, NH every now and then. Right on rt125 is a place called 125 Tools. They've been at 111 Plaistow Rd (rt125) for 20yrs.

The prices are higher than both the Waltham and Worcester Tool Shed spots, but there is a larger more varied inventory to choose from.

Hours are :
M-F 7a-6p
Sa 8a-4p
Su closed.

It's not Mass/RI but there's a used tool store on Rte 3 up in Franklin, NH. I seem to remember they're only open during weekday business hours. Can't remember the name though. Sorry.

Andy the owner is an awesome guy. There is a great, eccentric, and funny crowed in there. I live half hour away and pass through there during work somtimes. i'm in the loading dock business. great place.
