Hi,

I just moved into a 2,500 sq ft. shop that was built about 6 years ago. I'm running a motorcycle/machine shop and looking for a professional, cutting edge look. Internet searches for pictures of modern, sleek, commercial shops is pretty sparse as far as the stuff I've been able to come up with. There are plenty of photos of high-end home garages, but not much in the way of businesses. Do you guys have any pictures or know any existing galleries that would help to give me some inspiration?

The last couple of Harley Dealers I went to had pretty sharp looking shops, although no machine shops but pretty nice repair shops with nice lifts and tools.

Its hard to beat illuminated vinyl awning for attraction, they do take some expense and care. You can see lots of them on store fronts of all types, many downtown, etc. You can change the look of a whole building, its not usually on the cheap.

Just moved in to, if you have 100's hanging out of your pockets it makes a difference. I would get the layout right, the utilities, wash up sinks, urinal in mens wash up area, flex able method for addition of equipment, electric, air, stuff I could move and tailor a bit before I worried about 2 fancy. Laundry tub for sinks, light placement and switching, tasking, hose reels and air drops, some white paint to hide sins.

Put it all on wheels and or get a pallet jack. I was in a shop a while back, they put this huge set of shelves right in the middle in front of entrance door the day they got the roof on and they need to be moved to the back, years of bs because someone couldn't move it, don't be scared to change.

Some tables/workbenches to set projects on, with wheels, I got 3 or 4 of them, really handy, a solid bench with heavy vise near welding for real business, a bench or 2 along a wall is ok but I like equipment there and tables portable. Big tool chests along the wall, semi permanent in small shop with service cart or 2 for the stuff I really use. No use in dragging 1000's of pounds of roll arounds to keep a few tools real handy.

Find somewhere to store stuff you really are not using out of work area where it doesn't distract, I am not scared to add something I don't need but also willing to strip excess, if I can get it down to 2 tools over 3 all the better, consider what I use hourly, daily weekly, monthly and yearly or is it just too good to throw away? Its a value question based on some spread sheet stuff to some extent, where is your effort best spent?
