Any suggestions for a cordless work light? I go thru these like clockwork. I love my snap on tools but I can't warrant the price on the led wands they have. I have a couple craftsman ones but they go bad or dull every year or so.

do you have any major brand cordless tool batteries? ie, milwaukee m18, dewalt xrp, etc. it would be tough for me to justify yet another battery format to need chargers and spare batteries for if i was already invested in one of the lineups..

that said, my milwaukee m18 LED worklight (forget the model # offhand) has lasted a couple months of use so far with two significant falls, and soldiered through a trans change in the pouring rain at the track; still chugging. not exactly a long term test yet, but we're getting there.

that said, its more of a 'spot' light than a flood and positioning it to light exactly where you want can be annoying - i've had to bungy it to wheels/axles/subframes to get what i needed lit in the beam.

I haven't seen any cordless tool "light" that didn't seem like a super overpriced 10 year old design. I have a bunch of different type and size LED flashlights, and plan on adding a few fairly cheap LED cordless small floods, but most of the time I prefer a corded work light with a CFL tube or tubes. Last one was a 26 watt Bayco I got for $20 at Walmart, but I also use the cheap ones I have from HF plenty.

Drop light thread with branches on some cordless as well, EZRed has a popular LED flood.

The EZRed (post #31 in the thread linked above) is the same light MATCO sells for over $100. I think I paid a little over $50.

I just bought mine last month, so I can't speak to long term durability. But so far, it seems like a real good light. The beam is fairly broad for LEDs and the light is nice. Not as good as incandescent, but the bulb isn't a million degrees either.

I have the EZ Red like Butters, the first thing to break was the socket for the hook. Since one of the screws that hold the case together is integrated in the hook attachment once that broke off the next couple of falls made things rattle inside. After a while I had to smack it to light up. At this point it lives in my junk drawer. Total time I used it was about 5 months.

See, I had a nice NAPA LED (Not NAPA brand) one, think it cost about $80.00, hardly used it, and that's what killed it, I left it plugged in 24/7 and hardly used it.
One night I was using it, and BAM!, it started shutting off after about 10 minuets.
Wonder if I could get batteries for it?

The little $3 one from HF. Works really well for the price. Bought 5 when they were on sale.

I like the standard M12 light milwaukee has. I really hate leds when your looking into a dark area in the daylight so I didn't pay the premium for the led version.

ATD's saber light is pretty good. They have them in 30 60 & 90 LED, IIRC.

EZ red also has a pocket type that is really good too. PLC6 or something like that. Tooltopia has it for about 12-

I know you said that snap on was to expensive but I have this light from the snap on truck that I love I have one for at home and work. The magnet on this thing is super strong and the battery life is great. I used it in a 36" pipe that I was welding in for almost 5 hours straight without turning it off never went dead or dimmed on me.
