So, I've been looking for an affordable, used, two post lift.
Something safe that I can afford to buy and setup for home/back yard use.
This weekend a friend emailed me these pictures of a lift he came upon, and thought I might be interested.
According to him, he couldn't find any nameplate or info on the lift, so the pictures are all I have to go by.

He said it was approx. 11' 6" from the ground to the bottom of the stop-rod, and approx. 9' 6" inside the upright columns.
So, any ideas as to brand? Capacity? Age?
Does it appear to be of any quality, or do you recognize it as junk?
I will be going to check it out myself later in the week, so I'd like to learn what I can beforehand, so I'll know what to check it for.
I was told they're asking $1,000 for it, so if it looks OK and works, is that reasonable, or should I run away?
Thanks a bunch for any help you can offer.

I do not know what kind, but..... Maybe check the name on the motor. Look for any names, numbers that might be stamped into the metal. I see a chain lift....is this a hyd. Cylinder lift?

It looks like a Chinese import, probably not more than 10 years old. That same style of lifts is sold under multiple brand names...Tuxedo, Atlas, Ben Pearson, etc.

Re: Can you help me ID this lift?

Thanks a lot for the input guys.
I really know nothing about these things, and I'm just trying to learn what
I can from those of you that have experience with these things.
I've been looking and searching online for any info I can find.
And I'd like to end up with a lift with a good capacity rating, like a 10,000.
I'm just trying to keep from making a $1,000 mistake.

Hammer...A few tidbits that I noticed when looking at the lift.
A.) The carriages (the section holding the arms) is pretty short. A short carriage usually leads to a short lift life
B.) The arm restraints look pretty cheap. The red button needs to be lifted to unlock the arm for movement, but the gear that should hold the arm in place is on top of the arm, not inside the arm where most are. The gear only looks to be about 1/4" thick and if it's not stripped already, it will strip pretty quickly under any kind of use.
C.) It looks like the lift was installed outdoors. Not the best environment for any sort of lift, no matter whose it is. You can see quite a bit of corrosion inside the column and on some of the bolts.

Just my 2 cents..don't buy it!

That's probably very good advice.....that I'll most likely heed.
Thanks.
Is this lift near Pensacola, I'd take a look at if you'd like?
Wow, very generous offer...and thank you very much.
But it's east of Panama City.
Actually, I think it's between Panama City and Tallahassee.
I haven't seen it yet, just had a friend send the pictures and call and tell me about it.
He was excited, thinking he'd found a treasure.
I may still try to go see it myself later this week, but I believe you guys have already given me all the info I need.
Not necessarily what I was hoping to hear, but still what I needed.
Thanks again.

Not sure what it is but as mentioned before it looks like a lower price lift. It is probably not a 10K pound lift, more than likely a 9,000 lb. you can buy a NEW Atlas about the same for $1,500 from Greg Smith. Plus you would probably have to dismantle it and reassemble. Don't buy it, at least not for that price.
