Yesterday I posted about the new Felo ergonic socket sets on TG. I then discovered (or maybe rediscovered?) that Felo already sells something similar in the US market.

Does anyone have Felo ratchets/sockets, and can you comment on their quality?

I wouldn't think to associate Felo with ratchets and sockets, but then again the same was true for Wera a few years ago.

Not confirmed...had them in my hand...a local DIY box offers them as "premium" und the "LUX" label.

Trust me, if something is a tool and made in germany...it will be stamped on it...but not here. Those ratches are standard quality like TOPTUL...nothing else.
The benefit here is that real made in germany (and assembled elsewhere by proud slaves) FELO Grip,...

It will normally not brake and will not give you skin cancer...

You decide.

If this set is the same as the lux, the lux is made in Germany. Not the lower grade lux that is made in taiwan. Not slave labor there.

Does it come with a 100ft. rope for lowering the ratchet down into a well? That's what the hole in the handle is for, correct?

This ratchet they sell under the lux brand also, it is one of their mid grade ratchet, nothing special. That new one looks to felo's high end offering.

Anyone confirm that they are German made?

The small ratchets in the Xs sets are completely made in Taiwan.

The big ratchets from the R-Go sets are partially made in Germany, the Ergonic handle is fully injection moulded onto the ratchet and not just glued on.

Also keep in mind that Felo offer a full 15 year warranty on these tools. They would be unlikely to do this if they'd cut any corners on quality.

Taiwan-made tools in general are very good quality. Many of the Stanley FatMax tools are also made in Taiwan.

Cheers,
Mark.

I have this socket set,

Its ok but nothing special, but then again I really wasnt expecting too much considering I only paid something like $32 for it. The ratcheting mechanism doesnt feel very good, it takes ages for the ratchet to engage when in use (I'd say roughly a 30 degree swing) and the anvil is very wobbly. It hasnt broken yet though and I'm not particularly afraid of using it hard

Cant complain about the sockets, the bits have held up very well and are just as good as the tips on Felos regular screwdrivers. Mainly I just use the sockets and bits with the handle that comes with the kit and not the ratchet which is really the only letdown in the set.
