Triple Bank vs. Double Bank SO Box

So I'm about to finally buy a real tool box. A SnapOn Classic 96. It's the biggest that I can afford right now. I like the size but having a hard time deciding on weather a triple or double bank setup would work better for me. Was thinking of some pros vs. cons.

Any input from you guys who've owned a lot of tool boxes?

Triple bank advantage - More separate drawers and I can separate out tools better. Each type of tool can have their own home.

Double bank advantage - Wider drawers with ample space. I can pull drawers out and have a better view of my tool inventory.

Would love to hear your opinions on the double vs. triple setups.

triple bank if you have the space to fit it... if not look into the classic SS which is the 76 with double full length drawers ( u loose the the first double bank drawers compared to the regular 78) but worth it for a double full length drawer setup

i thought about buying a 96 too but changed my mine and just added another kart to my classic. later on i trade in

Triple bank by far ... the larger work surface and increased capacity allowing for better organization make it a easy choice imo

Triple bank, as long as you have a long drawer for sockets/ratchets. My Gray Pro Series has many small drawers, great for organizing, but I have to put sockets & different drive size ratchets in different drawers. My box is only 26" though, LOL. Classic 96: awesome!

Every box I've bought I thought was big enough. they weren't. Get the biggest that fit's in the allowed space, or the biggest that the wallet can handle. JMO.

I don't think the double bank drawers are any 'wider'. The triple bank is simply another bank extended on the right side of the box.

I got the classic SS and I really wish I wouldve gone with the 96. I had almost no tools to transfer to my box from my cart before I bought my box and now less than a year later Ive almost run out of room. Triple bank definitely gets my vote but the two full length drawers are nice.

Thanks guys for the replies.

They are both 73" wide. Both have the same volume of space. Here are my two options:

Triple bank classic 96. 73" wide.

Double bank classic 96. 73" wide.

I seem to be drawn to the double banks. I like the bank of wider drawers plus I don't have many organizational "categories" of tools that would demand more drawers.

Get the double bank 73" box. Those HUGE drawers will come in handy for storing a crapload of sockets in one drawer, ALL of your wrenches in another, etc. Makes it easier to grab stuff if you don't have to open multiple drawers to get access to your tools.

My dream box is the KRL1032. I currently have the KRA2411.

MMMM big box!

You can go up or sideways. Myself, I have a double bank with a side and top. If your box doubles as a bench (I personally do not care for this) get the triple bank otherwise your next purchase will be a sidebox.

From personal experience I have the classic 78 version, I love this box and have had it for a few years. One thing I have found that I wish I had now is two full length drawers, tha KRA series top drawer is only 4" deep while the KRL series top drawer is 5" deep and the second is 4" deep both boxes are 24" wide while some of the new KRL series are 29" wish I had that too. Just my 2 cents, hope this helps.

My next box will be the KRA 7022 in case you were wondering.

Also get the one you think will be bigger then you will ever need, then go one size bigger.
Just sayin...
