Garage Security: Garage door opener switch

Here's something I had NEVER thought of until today.

The neighbor's 13 year-old daughter asked to borrow a screwdriver. Gave her a Phillips because it was the first thing I grabbed.

"Will this work?"

"No, I need a flat."

So I gave her a flat blade..."I need a longer one if you have it."

Asked her why she needed it and she said "I locked myself out of the house."

So she walks across the street and goes to the garage door. She pulled the garage door seal open a bit and used the screwdriver to hit the button.

So...I immediately did this with some scrap aluminum.

this. never seen it like that. i guess i can understand it tho, youre leaving and walking out the door just give it a tap....

This is a rental, but in this neighborhood that's where the builders placed the switches.
