Question - I am almost done coating my garage floor. Being a UF Gator booster I coated my floor orange and blue. Looks great. If not a little loud. I was thinking about paint some accenting stripes on my walls. But after seeing the floor I thought it might be too much and just paint my walls white. The stripes would only be two courses of block each on a 12' wall. With one course of blocks green. The rest would be white. So the pattern wouyld be 7 rows white, 2 rows orange, 1 row green, 2 rows blue, and 6 rows white. Others here at my work have said that adding the stripes might actually tone down, visually that is, the floors brightness.

Opinions/thoughts ??

BTW - I'll have pics of my finished floor in the flooring section later this weekend.

GO GATORS!!!!!!!!!!

Floor pics will be available sometime Saturday after the final clear coat hardens. It should look pretty kewl. In my opinion. I still need to get all of my ceiling lights installed to get a real feel of how it will look. I currently only have 3 of the 11 fixtures installed :(

If you haven't already bought your wall paint, you might want to consider the Team Colors line by Glidden at Home Depot.

By the way, if you were looking for a college themed paint scheme, I think you should have gone with the Old Gold and Black colors of Purdue.:)

Actually what I plan to do is take samples of the hardened epoxy in and have them color matched. Thanks for the Purdue suggestion, I actually like Purdue, But I'll stick with the Orange and Blue :D

Ok while not complete yet. I still need to touch up around the edges where it bled under the tape then clear coat it. This is how my floor will look. I talked to the folks at Home Depot and they said that the stripes I planned to put on the wall will deemphasize the floor. Espcially since they will be at eye level. So I will go ahead an paint the stripes and walls in the next cpl of weeks.

Once my floor is completely done I have a write up in the flooring section.

If you do a white wall color I would make it a soft or even pastel white, not a stark color. You could buy colored tape and "test" the look before actually painting the stripes. Kudos on getting away from the standard grey flooring! Looking ofrward to the write up.

Yup...I hate the Gators. Sorry, lifelong UK fan here. But as a fellow garage guy and sports nut, I think it's pretty cool. I have my home office all decked out in blue and white and full of memorabilia so I can relate to your passion !

I'd probably stick with the original stripe plan but adjust it as required to make sure that the entire stripe pattern wraps around the bathroom / utility room. You don't want one of your stripes to get split there.

Maybe buy the little color samples of paint to see how you really like having the stripes on the wall.

Perhaps maybe instead of the 7 rows white, 2 rows orang, etc. look at slicing the row in half and doing something like 16 rows white, 2 rows orange, 1 row gren, 2 rows blue, and 14 rows white.

Not a bad suggestion. Same basic pattern just make the colors other than the white only half as wide. Will give that some thought.

Boiler - the way the pattern currently is set up the stripes all fit on the bathroom. The top 8 inches or so of teh bathroom walls is teh bottom of the top white section.
