Is there a specific purpose for these little pliers?

I found these little Craftsman pliers in my deceased father in laws garage, they are almost like a mini groove joint pliers.

Are these made for a specific application?

I have a 3/8 " ratchet for a size comparison.

Looks like ignition pliers or some variant to me.

I may order a couple more to keep in the vehicle tool boxes, they do seem handy.

Slip joint pliers that fit in pocket, nah no use at all, send to me for proper disposal.

Add a pair to a decent pocket screwdriver and not much you can't take apart. Fit the screwdriver tight in the fastener, then us the pliers to grip the shaft and apply torque, or grab the fastener directly.

How ever handy the full size slip joint is, that is how handy the small one is for small stuff. If they are cheap I never pass one up, and have a couple Craftsman and a Wilde.

I always thought they were put into tool sets so you can give them to your girl friend/wife.

When she starts complaining about your tool purchases, you can hand her the little pliers "But Honey, I got you these cute little pliers".

Good quality ones like that are excellent pocket tools, real forgrd pliers rather than the cast stainless ones on most multitools. They will work on any nut they can grasp, and your hand will break before the pliers.

You can never have too many pairs of pliers! Especially the small pliers for working on small stuff.
