I had the same idea...though I wanted to have about a 8 ft single tire mark across the corner of the ceiling.....

must be a Jeep thing...I have a 88 YJ with a CJ front clip lifted with lockers, 35's etc and a 98 TJ lifted with 33's no lockers though I just picked up a set of Rubicon axles...

what would the chance of getting your decal friend to make up a sing 8 ft tire decal?

I had to give him a pattern. I just took a Goodyear MTR and did a rub of the tread. He scanned that and created duplicates about four feet long.

Cutch, PM me. I might be able to work something out. It might cost something, I don't know.

I like vintage Datsun roadsters and 510s (yes, there is a car for everyone) and have a vintage Datsun dealership sign on one wall in the shop:

A newer dealership Nissan sign on the other wall:

Shop specs: 36x48 pole barn with 6" slab with radiant heating. I have a loft built in it now (made with pallet racking) with the cars parked underneath... worked out really well!

Hey, I haven't seen a 1600 Raodster in a lnog while. My dad bought one new in 1968. It was silver with black top and interior. I learned to drive a stick in that car. What's the story on it?

Hey thats quite a collection of 311's! Nice stuff! Whats hiding under the cover in the corner? Certainly love the old Dato dealer sign. Your blue 311 is a 66? I noticed the low windshield.. I've got a 67.5 hiding at a friends shop in MN if I ever go pick it up. I just don't have the space for it right now in my garage.

LOVE the Datsuns  - I had 510's and now 240's forever and would've LOVED to have a Dat'ster, but they're hard to find in Canada! I'm also curious as to what's under the cover, as well would like to see more pix of your cars and the finished shop/loft!

I had my neighbor's sign shop make this 4 foot sign for my garage. I used a spotlight mounted on the ceiling to light it. It's 3D with the different plaques sticking proud from the white background. The car is actually my car.

Here's my latest project. Still putting the finishing touches on it (trim). It is a full sized bill board measuring about 10 feet tall by 24 feet wide. Excuse the mess.

when i was in highschool my father and i turned a room in our basement into a little "fabrication shop" where we did all our metal work. At the time we also pit-crewed on a friend's racecar. this picture is a door from the racecar that we hung up in the shop that is autographed by the driver as well. It's got a lot of sentimental value and one day i'll have it mounted in my own garage. (once i can afford to move out of my little apartment! lol)

Hey Gunslinger.....what is the texture on the walls or how was it done? I like the looks of that.

Thats just he way the garage was finished when it was built.....just regular "lay down" texture like inside the house...I guess. Sorry I can't be more helpful....

The upstairs office/cleanroom is still a work-in-progress since the wall vinyl siding isn't up yet but from the picture, you should be able to tell the Chevy Bowties that flank the bay window are back-lit.

Edit 4/12/2010: Added recent picture of finished wall.

I have been trying to find a "Woodward Ave" street sign for a long time. I was orignally from Detroit and spent many an evening cruising and hanging out in places such as the Totem Poll. I was told there was a guy who called himself the "Sign Guy" from the Detriot area who made them, but apparently he is no longer in business. The phone number I had for him has been disconnected and the only web site bearing that name is not him. Any ideas if he is still around or where I could get a similar sign?
