Kobalt 1/2" Breaker Bar

Has anyone tried this breaker bar from Lowes?

It would probably be fine however you can get a 24" from hf for under 20 with a coupon

The thing is that I live in Hawaii, so there's no Harbor Freight around. If I were to get those, I would have to get them shipped and if I were to break it, I'd kind of run into a problem.

Looks just like my 24" Gearwrench. More than likely made in the same plant. I've not had any issues with mine.

It is nicer then the craftsman one. It is a good breaker bar. Lowes kolbalt is just as simple to warranty as craftsman. No receipt needed.

Apex (Gearwrench parent co.) doesn't provide Kobalt hardline tools anymore, except the hex wrenches. When they did, Kobalt's breaker bar looked like a cross between Armstrong and Craftsman.

New Kobalt ratchets and most chrome tools are the same as Titan and E-Z Red, very adequate tools but the price isn't great for most stuff at Lowes. Some sales are good, like their $10 stubby wrench kits, but they come and go. I've got some Kobalt stuff in my box, never failed me unless it was an air tool. Their air guns and rats are junk.

I personally like the design of the kolbalt pivot better then the hf one. More metal on the arm, vs the single narrow narrow hinge on the bar of the hf with a super thick head.

That would be the reason the 4mm hex I just got is such junk!

I would rather pay for Titan since they are same....cheaper. But missing the cool blue stripe!

I do like their ratchets but it is the same one that is made of ALL the taiwan made tools. Genius, ez-red, cresent, KT, titan.....all have same 72 tooth ratchet. All have different prices as well. Lowes may win in the "easy to find" factor.

I have that breaker bar and bought it over the HF because the design of the head. I will agree that both are better then the newer Craftsman bars.

Also win in super easy warranty with kolbalt. Powerbuilt is also another one that comes out of the same factory.

northern tools has great deals on titan. Much nicer tools then HF in feel and quality over the HF ones imho.

Yep, I know the newer Lowes tools are no longer the Apex/Danahar brand. It still looks just like my Gearwrench and was more than likely made in the same plant since they look the same. There are other off brands that look just like it as well.

I'm talking about tools and not pickup trucks. The problem with your analogy is that they don't have the same COO, besides not being tools. I believe the Gearwrench and new Lowes 1/2" drive breaker bars are the same COO. More than likely means that they probably are, but not 100% for sure made in the same plant. If you know for sure they are not, post the link as to which factory makes each. In today's tool world, outsourcing is pretty common.

I bought the same breaker bar about 3 years ago when it was made in the U.S and it has been used alot and the only issue I have had is the pin does tend to slide out after it has been used a bunch.

But under closer examination, it looks like they have switched to a bolt and not a pin so that issue should be taken care of.
