I was at a yard sale and this piece of equipment followed me home:

It appears to be a Mall electric sander/polisher/ possibly grinder. Yes, it does work - HOLY TORQUE! That is perhaps the biggest 1/2hp motor I've ever seen!

Now, what the hell am I gonna do with this???? I am open to offers to purchase this... if someone wants to take it off my hands before my wife gets back from Boston

You're dead meat. :lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

To be honest, it would have followed me home, too. I have places to hide stuff, though. By the time my wife sees it, we have owned it for 10 years!

From the Remington arms company history:

1956 To complement its own powder-activated tool business, Remington acquired the Mall Tool Company for $9.8 million. This company operated plants in Chicago and Park Forest, Illinois and in Toronto, Ontario. Mall products included complete lines of portable electric, gasoline, and pneumatic-powered tools and flexible shaft equipment. Mall Tool Company was dissolved in 1958, and its activities integrated with Remington, which included the powder-activated tool business which had been previously developed in Bridgeport. The Canadian subsidiary name was changed to Remington Arms of Canada, Ltd. and its product line expanded to include firearms and other Remington products.

1969 Remington completed the sale of its power tool business to DESA Industries, Inc. Two plants were included in the transaction.

I bet the accessories for these would still fit your old unit.

Assuming this was a purchase of a nominal conservative amount I am not so sure Wil didn't hit the nail right on the head. You guys have seen my stuff, I too would simply stash it for awhile till it might be needed. Mind you I am not talking about doing this with something high dollar, just something cheap she would usually call junk! (she was not so fond of the WH when I drug it home either!)

I live close to Boston, and I am willing to trade wives. I will not require a picture. As for the sander, I have one similar to it. Mine has a smaller motor, but is also 1/2 HP, and is about 1 tenth of the weigh of yours. Much easier to store. Almost forgot to ask. Does your wife nag?????:lol_hitti

Put it this way... my wife is very girly. Not very Naggy, but she likes things that are pretty...

And that is going to be my problem with this machine... not what I paid for it, but the fact that it is NOT pretty and it takes up space in the garage - where she like to park her car!

That should pose no real problem (at least it would not for me) but then I am a very resourceful, diligent, and dedicated junker/pack rat as everyone now knows! Either find somewhere to stow it in one piece, or worst case scenario, dismantle it it stash the various parts, it isn't like you will need it tomorrow anyway. See, no sweat, problem solved! :pimpflash

Park her car? I used that as a reason for the time and money building my playhouse(I mean garage) Had it about 10 years and her car has been it about 10 nights,,,,,,,,lol

Did it cost more than a new pair of shoes? If it didn't you're golden just send her shoe shopping! Meanwhile stash it waaayyy in the back someplace.

This ruse sometimes works for me but ymmv.

Man, and if you think extension cords or air lines are a hassle..... (jeez)

That was actually my first thought when i saw it at the yard sale... but let's just say that the price was right and it's a neat older tool - that still works.
