You never know; you might see if snapon will do a flat rate repair for that one... then sell it to get some money back... worth a try! :)

He was a good sport about it to. Didnt get pissed off or anything and actually told me to not worry about it and to not pay for it, but im sorry, if i broke something of yours im gonna replace it. So i just called snappy and told him the situation and he will be getting the replacement wed. Alot of money but at least my conscience is clean.

It is typically 1/3 cost of retail.... something like $100-$150 or so; ask your dealer or call snap-on for a exact quote. The flat rate is one of Snapon's good deals in certain situations; in this case, a mutilated impact is of no use to anyone; if they flat rate it... you have a usable tool or a way to recoup some dough for your accident! Keep us informed on how it goes! :)

Nice of you to do the right thing. I agree with you, I break your tool, I will replace it just like my own. I`d send it in, why not.

Screw it ill do it. If i could get that rebuilt for 150 i will just keep it for myself. But i like the idea of attaching a note saying 'light duty repair'

According to Craigslist, that impact gun is in great condition with light to moderate use.

A co worker of mine became irritated with a job and took it out on his snappy drill. Broke it in two pieces. For a hundred bucks the dealer had his drill repaired.

I would like to hear the story. I have no problem replacing anything I break under my use or neglect. If HE left it somewhere and you ran it over tough *******.

Not really, my snap on dealer came and sold me the one gun and battery to replace my coworkers and i decided to wait on sending it in until i pay my account down a lil. I dont like it to be above a certain point.

The situation was that we were both working on an excavator and he had asked me to move the excavator to another location. There was some objects on the track that i quickly moved off and decided not to do my walk-around on the machine because i was in a hurry. This is a company that HIGHLY stresses safety and walk-arounds before starting up equipment. And i failed to do that because i was in a hurry. I have no idea where he left it whether it be on the track or beside it but either way I still crushed it because of MY neglect to properly follow some basic procedures. I really have no problems replacing it. It taught me a valuable lesson.

Funny (not the above story), but I bought a small tool box this week and darn if it had one very expensive 1/2 drive impact socket (new it must have cost at least $45.00 dollars.) Turns out the previous owner must have wanted to jury rig it somehow and he took a hacksaw blade and just killed it. No way snap on would fix that sucker so I had to throw it away with many tears in my eyes.

Good job about replacing the tool you have earned many bonus points today from your co-worker!

I am demoing a metal building and I am using my Snap-on 3/8 cordless impact wrench to take apart bolts. I told my dealer that I am afraid of dropping it. He told me that any repair would be flat rate.

See now thats a stand up guy. I dont work with heavy equipment so safety regulations of that sort are unknown to me. Most people would say move you **** and I wont run over it. I think you went above and beyond!

I agree that the OP is a good guy for replacing it, but placing a tool on/in the path of a heavy equipment track is about the dumbest-*** place I could possibly think of.

My dealer was amazed they did it, said he told them the story of how it broke and everything and they STILL 'repaired' it. I guess there is some sort of anti-tamper sticker or screw or something on it to let them know if its been tampered before and its still intact so he thought maybe they just swapped it for a brand new one. But all that matters is it only cost me a 100 bucks! Pretty good if you ask me :bounce:
