Due to my "enthusiasm" at garage sales, I now have two 26x14x12 boxes and no place to put them. I have a not-so-well preserved SnapOn from the 60's(?) and a good condition "Gray Tools" box with Harley stickers. I thought I could put at least on on my bench, but there is an overhang above my bench which prevents me from opening the lids on the boxes. DOH!

Without buying any lower boxes, what can I do with these? mount them to the wall? I've consdered selling them but I'm not sure three is a market for well-used boxes. I bought them both cheap mostly to pilfer the tools in them to add to my collection - I already have a bigger upper/lower combo but I can't pass up a good deal!

What do you do with your "solo" uppers besdides putting them on your bench?

It's strange that these storage items are now a "storage problem" . . .:lol_hitti

The title of this thread made me first think it dealt with a dental problem of some type....:lol_hitti:beer:

I wish you were closer. I have a rough condition lower SO box from the late 50's or early 60's and would like a top box for it. Too bad you are in Canada.:(

So build a little shelf against another wall, or cut off the existing shelf and drop the level to accomodate your boxes. Where theres a will theres a way! If you want it bad enough you will find a way to make it happen!

if you work under cars alot you could install wheels to the bottom of one of them and fill it with a set of tools that you will use while under the car. will keep you from having to get up so much

you could also remove the lid of one and make it into a mid chest

I previously had two on wire shelving. Now I have one on top of an intermediate, atop a plaform I just built with 2x4s, MDF, and 4" casters. The top of the box is brough to elbow level. Total cost: $13 for casters, $2 for tee nuts, $10 for MDF, $2 for a 2x4.

I've got my top box sitting on a shelf under my bench until I get a bottom.

When my friend bought his topbox, he didn't have a bottom roll cab for it. Instead he bought a cheap sheetmetal-based bench to sit it on, and used the space underneath to store other stuff in other boxes. Worked very well.

You could also pick up a benchtop tool stand at Sears or elsewhere for ~$30, 400-500 lb weight capacity. Or something like a B&D Workmate.
