Hi my name is Chris,
I stumbled onto this site while looking for ideas to build a new shop. There is a lot of good information here. Congrats to all you guys that have been through the process and or are going through the process of planning , building and improving the space you have.
I just have to say one thing. How AGONIZING it is to figure out what you really want, THEN to come on here and get a bunch of new ideas,
What's a guy to do
. I think my engineer hates me. I've really only had him draw my plans once but am in the process of doing a plan re=draw now. The SHOP is going to be awesome though if it ever really comes to be.
Right now I just have the grass killed where I want the shop to gol and if the weather here would co-operate I'll get the sod off and start on framing some footing's and stem walls unless my contractor comes up with a good price to do it for me. Bids are out now.
Here is what it is going to be.. At this point anyway unless my engineer murders me first. 6/12 pitch with two foot overhangs, 44x48x14 with three roll up doors 12x14 on the gable end. Going to use scissor trusses and the building wll be tall enough to put up a small mezzanine for some storage and a 14' lift in either of the outer bays otherwise I would have went with 12' walls. Stick built, hardi sides. 3 tab roofing and a small roll up door on the back side to let the toys out. Oh and of course a man door and a couple of windows. Think I will add a poly carbonate panel on the South end for lighting
I am very close to knowing exactly what I want structure wise... Should be all the storage/work space I ever need and I can put an RV anywhere in the building I want. Ok you guys quit coming up with good ideas.
