I have USPS tracking numbers, but no information on the USPS site. I'm blaming both parties for that one, as i've never really seen USPS give anything other than "this number isn't right" or "delivered, hope we threw it at the right porch!"

What you probably have is the serial shipping container number, which is what they gave me for the order that came straight from apex. It was delivered UPS though.

I ordered two Gearwrench ratchets from Sears and they arrived today. The Sears tracking number was invalid and did not match the number on the UPS package.:willy_nil

I got my ratchets today! Sears.com still says "pending" but they arrived today.... Four ratchets came in three boxes.. two from Apex tool and one from sears.

Sears *****, but the ratchets kick ***!! All are Taiwan made! I was so worried they would be the same new china **** Gearwrench has been pushing for the last few years.

I could not be more happy! If I had known they where Taiwan and such nice quality I would have ordered more. Matco 88 kits here I come!

In this case, explain to me how sears *****? Everyone was falling over themselves to order the GW deals and yours arrived just fine. Everyone bashes sears until they run a great sale, then they can't get their wallet out fast enough.

Ordered a few of the soft handled ratchets on the 29th. It says it shipped has a linked tracking number on the sears account site, which opens a UPS search. But it is a USPS number, not UPS. Sears really struggles with the most basic e-commerce issues.

Of course putting the number in USPS system doesn't work either. It just returns this error message:

Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office.

I hope they actually arrive...

I also ordered the 302 piece tool set mentioned a few days ago as well. Arrived yesterday. Not perfect, but definitely worth the price (I wrote a short review here).

I ordered some ratchets a few days ago. The provided tracking number was USPS tracking number. However, the ratchets were delivered today by UPS :D. And the tracking on the USPS website showed the same error message!

That's why I haven't jumped on this. Well, I don't *need* anymore ratchets, but more than that I don't need the headache when the order doesn't arrive, or arrives partial or damaged. IME Sears does a very poor job of packaging anything I've ever ordered.

In this case I'm sticking w the old "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me."

It doesn't matter if everyone else here gets their ratchets with zero hassle (not likely), I would be the one who had an issue.

It was probably the best price I have seen on those ratchets. So for all who get theirs thats great. I noticed the sale too late and missed out. Personally I like sears and have very good luck when I order.

This. I think the magnet stuck on the side of our delivery person says 'Prestige'.

thats it I hear thats amazons own delivery company

It is not Amazon's delivery company, it's a small regional delivery company that is one of several smaller companies that Amazon has started to use. Never had any problems myself but others have and it's really turning people off to Prime.

LOL, thats LaserShip. Their business model is they hire independent couriers who are basically responsible for all their own costs and are paid like $1.25 per package delivered.

Honestly my Prime membership is so freaking awesome, as long as the packages usually get here on time, I can manage to stand a screw up occasionally.

That said, every single 2-day delivery I've had has been UPS 2nd day air. I've been wondering how they manage to afford a $30 shipping label for the $8 hook and pick set I ordered.

Not to derail the thread, but as a HUGE heads up. Amazon is going to start charging sales tax in the state of Texas as of June 1st. (i read this in another forum)

It is not the end of the world but it will take the wind out of some of the "goodness" of a deal that is found.

Check and see if this will happen in your state before you get your heart set on something.... only to find it taxed on the bottom line

Then again the Amazon Prime can help offset this tax that we are going to have to start paying for being a Texas resident.

I had to ship some light weight electronics from our Colorado office to the factory in SoCal for testing and eval. They were sent on my customer's FedEx account. My customer is the US Air Force. Total for overnight P1 was $3.67. Talk about a discount!

Similarly, I have shipped heave equipment on a large commercial account (Agilent) and while not as good as the one above, it was still amazing. If I remember correctly something like $60 for 5 boxes 2 day air from DC to Colorado.

We try to use our customers acct when ever possible:D

I just had 2 Amazon Prime deliveries arrive today via UPS. Ordered Monday afternoon, arrived Wednesday afternoon. I can't complain.

I'm sure Amazon does not pay even close to what we would have to pay to ship the same package. Huge discounts are available if you ship to volume that Amazon does. They probably have dozens of drop trailers that UPS/FedEx comes in and drops off an empty semi trailer and picks up a full one and takes it straight to a sorting facility. Much cheaper than having a driver come in and hand load a few/dozen/hundred packages.

There are talks to have this in Indiana as well. Supposed to make the playing field more fare to brick and mortar business in the state. Can't blame them. I don't believe it has passed yet though.

Welcome to the amazon tax states. Amazon has collected taxes in NYS for couple of years now. Besides a evening the playing field, it helps that states make up revenue in this slow economy.

Thanks, awesome deal. Also worth noting, Made in USA

Ditto, I wanted to say thanks for posting a machining related deal. Rare to see blowout deals on stuff like this.

As for Amazon, all states want to collect sales tax. I'm vehemently opposed; I see so much gov't waste from my state, they simply don't deserve my tax dollars. I would be FINE with a reduction in ALL government services, including road maintenance, law enforcement and education.

It passed already. Amazon will voluntarily begin collecting Indiana sales tax on Internet purchases on Jan 1, 2014, or 90 days from any federal online sales tax legislation that may pass before that time.

i don't understand.. since it's adjustable, why is it "metric" ? wouldn't it just be universal up to whatever maximum range it has?

I'm under the impression that because it's button operated it has set adjustment increments. It changes in mm for the metric set and 16th of an inch for the SAE set. I had the same question at first.

I guess the part that surprises me about any of this is that it can legally be done to ONE particular company (Amazon). How is that legal? Wouldn't it have to be all online companies?

It's not like this Amazon site thing crept up on states. They are only doing this because they are still so desperate for money. That doesn't mean it isn't right/fair to do it etc, it's just a turn off knowing that the only reason they are pursuing this is because they need cash. And of course even when things return to normal, the toll booth stays in place and they will look for additional areas to collect tax. The toll booths never come out.

That is a SICK deal. :rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker:

I had totally cut myself off for purchases this month (I've already gone WAY overboard) but this is one of those you just don't pass up.

Anyone here that has a milling machine of any size, BUY THESE. If you've never used roughing cutters in your machining, you don't have a clue what you're missing. They're awesome.

On top of that, Niagara is one of the top-tier brands of cutters, you very rarely see them go for this price, especially TiN coated roughers.
