Stopped by the CL tool guys place today

Got another load of stuff cheap. I overpaid a little on the dial indicator but I wanted it to line up the blade on my table saw so I bought it anyway. I haggled with him on the cornwell tester last week and got him down from $75 to 40 but didnt buy it. He put it up today for $20 so I'm glad I waited.

I seldom and usually never stop over anyone's house i do not know, and if i do, i tend to know his name and not call him a "CL guy", if that's what you mean.

It's 2012 if you want to sell something you advertise it on CL. Usually this requires someone coming by your house to pick it up.

The guy is retired and his story is that he is trying to collect a full tool set to leave to each one of his kids once hes gone. He says hes not into it to make a big profit, just something to do. I think most of his stuff comes from the flea market, yard sales, junk bin at the pawn shop, and bartering he does on craigslist. You are not going to find a shiny new set of snap on anything there. He'd have to be the dumbest criminal in the world to steal the stuff he has there. I guess hed fall into your dirty old perv who sells tools out of his garage category. Theres always something different there and its like being a picker looking for something old or unique.

He has some power tools from time to time but nothing special. There was a sliding miter saw there and a pretty new ridgid drill.

You usually pay for the big items and then he throws the rest in for nothing. I just posted this because some of you like to see yard sale finds.

Jim in Richeyville... I've bought stuff from him before. Not a bad guy to deal with at all. I actually mentioned this site to him but I don't know if he ever decided to show up. He's a CM guy through and through.

Yep its Jim in richeyville. Last time I was up there he was bragging about how craftsman was still made in usa. I told him about how some of it was starting to be made in china. He didn't believe me so I started pulling stuff off his pegboard and sure enough his brand new raised panel ratchet was made in china. He threw it across the yard and then we laughed about it.

The funny thing about Jim is that I looked at the house next door to him when it was in foreclosure cause it has 13 acres but the house wasn't worth fixing. I just laugh that I would have been his next door neighbor.
