Approx. age of this Kennedy machinist's box?

Picked this up a few months ago. It's in good shape but I was wondering if anyone knew how old it might be? The front face doesn't have a detent ball at the top, which I've never seen before. When you open the lid you better have your other hand free, because the front is going to plop down once the spring loaded stakes release.

The front lock is in ok shape, no key and the latch spring is more or less done. I recently found a NOS replacement on eBay for $12, so that was nice.

My dads boxes are from the early 70's and don't look that much different than the modern boxes.

Best guess would be 1940's era.

I would agree, 40's. as a wag. (30's had a different logo)

Sound about right. I've got a similar one, but it has the more common pull on the cover plate.
Those boxes with the squared off corners on the lids are easy to spot as the old one, as everything later had the lid with the roundover corners on top
