truly a thing of beauty! The use of the stones in the bathroom is really cool. It adds an Italian atmosphere to the rooms. Very cool. Great job to you and your wife.

That Bathroom , is way cool. Love the pebbles they add a great touch, is the frame on the shower wall stone or timber?

I like the black toilet................

It is all stone. I picked out a black toilet because a white toilet just didn't look right. I will say wive's hate black toilets and polished stainless sinks because they are a nightmare to keep clean.

I have a question, I see other guys have posted pictures of their homes. Not that this is a home showcase but I really built our house to match the garage:thumb up: I would like to share the photo's when I get to it but I do not want to break any rules. Anyone know the answer to this question.......I bet WINGNUT knows........hello WINGNUT

Showed the wife the pic's of the garage, she said it's a beautiful house, told her it's the garage and she laughed and said forget it, you can't have one like that.

I grew up in Indiana, Ft. Wayne area, moved in 1986, love it down here. Know what you mean about the neighbors griping, although I don't believe I can take credit for 1 moving. Maybe I should try harder.

Thanks for the update's, keep them coming.

Beautiful garage and apartment. Can't wait to see the home, and how it integrates into the garage with landscaping and see the daily garage layout.

I love the idea of building the garage first, then live on site in the apartment. People should do it more, then again, more people should have garage spaces like this! Great taste everywhere.

As we lived in the apartment I realized it was really all we needed. Don't get me wrong I love the house but life was pretty simple in the garage. I have seen some pretty nice garages on the forum and some big ones too. One can never have enough garage space.

Jumping ahead here but here are some unprofessional shots of the garage. I should have some night shots back from a photographer this week to share. When the pavers when down it was a beautiful day to finally not have dust everywhere from the gravel we had been driving on for the year of construction. We were so happy as the garage was coming together and we met another milestone.

The garage is finished and now what.............well, we had sold our home 4 months prior to the garage being finished. Luckily I was able to strike a deal with the people who bought our last house and have use of my old garage. I had one 55' long 17 foot wide, 13 foot tall bay they let me use. I bought pallet shelving and by the time i was done assembling it looked like a Home Depot in my old garage. I had 16 foot tall pallet racks down each side with 2 to 3 layers of shelving. We packed our house on pallets. Everything went in a box, labeled, stacked on a pallet and then shrink wrapped. We used 4 x 8 sheets of 1/2 inch foam board to wrap furniture. We knew we had to move it to the old garage and then move it to the new garage. I won't make a long story longer but I had brought down four 38' trailer loads of stuff from the Indiana place. After we got through moving all of the pallets they covered the entire floor of the new garage:eye crazy: I had my work cut out for me!!

Here is a shot of the living room and into the bedroom. As you can see the bedroom is not large but it was a cool place to sleep with the tall ceiling. Since this picture my wife found the 5 foot diameter clock that sits above the picture of our family above the bed. One theme you will find in the garage and the house is family and family memorabilia.

Oh and a garage is not complete without cars. I thought I would throw this picture in. It is a 1964 Chevelle Malibu SS. We are just finishing up a big block 502 with lots of polished aluminum to slide into this car.

Almost reminds me of the Jurassic Park visitor center / gate with the giant RV door / dinosaur gate. That's an epic house.

There are other threads with shots on the house, the garage is just an extension of the house.............................................
But in your case I guess the house is an extension of your garage.....HAhaahahahaha

Show us your ladies garage, she would be as equally proud of her half as you ure of yours....

Oh yeah! Now that is a garage!

Great planning and execution on all the details. Happy to hear that it was a team event. Like your wife, mine likes to get involved and be a part of the decision making process.

Wonderful build and congratulations on how it all has turned out. Very, very nice!

Wow keeps getting better and better.

Has the look of the rocks under the sink changed at all? For some reason I would think water would condense in there or something. Don't know why just a knee jerk thought maybe.

Husbands should never be left alone to make the decisions. We (wife, mother, brother) all worked together and it was such a great experience.

No, it stays dry. The sink sits on top of a vessel sink mounting ring so the sink sits up about 3/4" from the glass top. The glass top is not sealed to the cabinet top so there is a little breathing room between the glass top and the cabinet.

Here are some of the professional shots in the daytime. I am no photographer but I think these are pretty good. What I like in the photos is the sky.

All I can say is WOW WOW WOW & WOW !!

I tip my hat to you sir, that is one amazing build

I've been keeping up with this thread & also your HT thread over on AVS & I just can't find words to pay proper compliment to what you've created.

I'm very much a fan of Tuscan style architecture & love the use of Earth tones & natural stone in buildings, so this to me is perfection. Please do share more pictures of the home & property, if you feel it appropriate to do so. I do realise that this is a garage forum, so perhaps house pictures would be too OT for here, but I do keep a watchful eye over on AVS for any updates there too.

If there was ever inspiration to hold on to our dreams & believe that they can come true, this is it. I've had many dreams in my life, which sadly have never come to fruition. The one remaining one I have, is to some day design & build my own home. I'm saving your two threads in my "Inspiration Folder"

Thank you for sharing

I am posting one of my favorite pictures. We hooked up with a photographer by accident. A local builder wanted some pictures of our home to showcase in his brochure. He had nothing to do with the build but I agreed as my nephew was working for him at the time. We liked the photographers work and asked him back. They had taken all kinds of pictures of the house and of the garage. I told the photographer I wanted a picture of the house with the garage. After all the house was modeled after the garage. The shot was too wide for a panoramic photo and it would have distorted anyway. He took two photo's and stitched them together. I think it turned out awesome.

I might have gotten a little bit of good news today. I spoke with the editor of Garage Style Magazine and it looks like they want to do a spread on my garage. I have been a subscriber of Garage Style Magazine for many years and it was always a dream to be in it.
